It’s looking more likely that SCOTUS will be asked to resolve a circuit split involving Section 230. This week, the federal district court judge presiding over Anderson v. TikTok granted this motion.

This was great. I found a lot of people I used to follow who weren't on starter packs. h/t @flodebarre.bsky.social

Also like that bluesky lets you share a custom app password instead of needing to log in everywhere.

If you continue to see "Invalid Handle" for a while and you've recently updated your username to use your website, you may need to reverify it.

In the meantime, give it a moment to resolve on its own 🙏

One part of our upgraded infrastructure may affect your profile.

If you see your handle now says “Invalid handle,” please reverify it by navigating to Settings > Change my handle > Type in your current handle > Verify DNS Record > Update.

(Basically, update to the same handle.)

A better angle would be to consider why the hype about the role of AI misinformation in this election was so wrong and to see what we can learn from those mistakes.
Contrary to this story, there's no convincing evidence that people's confidence in the truth has been shaken by AI misinformation, which played little role in this election. The fact that people are bad at guessing what information is real vs. AI when asked is not evidence of a decrease in trust.
AI didn’t sway the election, but it deepened the partisan divide
Artificial intelligence was predicted to disrupt the 2024 election. It ended up shaking people’s faith in truth rather than influencing their vote.

Fun fact: If someone quotes a post of yours in a way that is unwelcome (as is commonplace on Twitter/X) there is a tool to combat the unwanted attention. Simply click the three dot menu on the quote post & click "Detach quote". This removes your post from their quote post. Useful to know, do share!

More than a little chuffed, as a regular reader of Platformer, to be quoted in Platformer's coverage of why KOSA is such a harmful bill.
An anti-porn law in Utah survived its first court challenge, using a novel strategy adopted from anti-abortion laws. It’s part of a worrying rise in bills seeking to limit online speech https://www.platformer.news/p/how-the-kids-online-safety-act-puts
