The idea that songs created by generative models are letting more people write music makes about as much sense as claiming that taxis let more people run marathons. Showing up at the destination doesn't mean you did the work.

All AI music does is devalue the work done by human artists. It’s not accessibility, it’s exploitation. We need real protections for artists against AI!

BTW — even if you had access to this AI startup as a child, you still wouldn’t know how to make music.

She’d feel awful, like this was her fault somehow, and it’s not.”

Sigh... This is correct, but my husband's whole family loves pecan pie and I love pumpkin but my family who eats pumpkin pie won't travel for Thanksgiving and we can't travel and his family comes to us, so it has been YEARS since I had pumpkin pie and it will be another pecan this year.

I'm not a neuroscientist and so I won't try to answer "Can AI think?" But I will say that it can't Google for shit. (I was trying to see if Sabrina Carpenter ever sang my favorite song off her new album live. The song DOES exist btw.)

One infamous Thanksgiving, my mom’s dogs - a bichon, a mutt and a miniature poodle - managed to pull the turkey off the table, at which point the poodle did a nose-dive into the cavity of the turkey. However, she couldn’t actually get far enough in to reach anything, despite trying her best.
