How can we #transfer our knowledge on #chemodiversity to agriculture? That was the theme at our @chemodiversity.bsky.social workshop last week at @igzleibniz.bsky.social It was a marvellous workshop with excellent talks from invited speakers and our #young #investigators alike!👍💪

Still 2 weeks time to apply to a #position as research group leader @igzleibniz.bsky.social Research focus: #plant #microbe systems #horticultural crops. Great #opportunity near #Berlin. The #jobdescription :

This #beauty crossed my path yesterday. Thought I should share... #nature #beetle

Nice! Did my PhD research on this beautiful plants, which are full of pyrrolizidine alkaloids! The colour of the flowers is quite unique 😍

For sure try " verse stroopwafels " and " bitterballen met mosterd" !

The same goes for switching to interdisciplinary science. It is highly desired by funding agencies and gouvernemental bodies, yet it does not pay off in terms of career development. Who is going to change this?

True! The patches with deciduous trees looked much better. But for the moment, it looks very sad...

I have co-supervised several #PhD students who studied the devastating effects of bark beetles and drought on #spruce #trees in German #forests. Nevertheless, I was shocked to see the effects when hiking in #SächsischeSchweiz near the Czech border... a sad view
A picture of a forest taken near Lichtenhain in Saxony. Many spruce trees are dead and their needlesless skeletons dominate the view. It is a sad view

Proudly presenting our latest paper in @plantphys.bsky.social by @axeltouw.bsky.social and coauthor showingvthat #nematode #infection facilitates cabbage root fly larval performance via #systemic #induced #root #responses. Team work is the dream work! @igzleibniz.bsky.social @idiv and @FSUJena

Our @chemodiversity.bsky.social RU has begun harvesting its 'core experiment' for the second model system; bittersweet nightshade. Lots of measuring, scanning, chemical sampling and root washing and we're now halfway done! Thanks to a great team, and the facilities of @jpschnitzlerlab.bsky.social
Kruthika, Valeria and Elikplim are teaming up at the trait measurement station, joined by Tanja, who's just outside the picture. Xue and Valeria placing VOC analysis tubes. Suna and Marvin collecting transcriptomic analysis samples. Maximilian and Senén getting ready to sample plant metabolomes.

#PlantScience, plants on a crane: we just started the 2nd chemotypic plasticity & diversity experiment within @chemodiversity.bsky.social with Solanum dulcemara testing drought stress & herbivory with @nmvandam.bsky.social, @rrjunker.bsky.social, @sunsicker.bsky.social, @chemecolcm.bsky.social

While 2025 is rolling out over the globe, I wish you all a happy and healthy 2025! An exciting year in which @igzleibniz.bsky.social will celebrate its 100th anniversary, the @chemodiversity.bsky.social team will meet in Großbeeren, and many other things to look foward to.

Just Xed X. Only blue skies from now on
nmvandam.bsky.social
Yes, I did the latter, too. Have a nice weekend!
nmvandam.bsky.social
Thanks, yes, I found the directory of starter packs already. But I was not sure if this means someone curates this list, et cetera
nmvandam.bsky.social
Hi Jogi, so far, so good! I am still a bit confused about the term starter pack. Will have to learn what those are exactly. Otherwise a great idea to start one on chemical ecology and chemodiversity.

Robin,I just joined. Can you give some pointers towards relevant persons and groups to follow? Thx 😊
