just tested the TLV1871, looks like it's a worthy successor to the LM311! the package is a bit of a handful to solder though, but otherwise I love the ±15 V capability and the push pull output

now I can have another shot at testing the comparator... thanks @aisler.net 😋

I made a silly noob mistake and fried a brand new comparator... but that's another chance to redo the board (with input dividers so I can set a threshold!) and send it off to @aisler.net 😋

it never fails to amaze me how uni turns something as interesting as electronics into THE most boring mathematical slop

thanks @aisler.net !

this one ended up slightly weird because I want MAXIMUM decoupling for the LT1016 ultrafast comparator
October 26, 2025 at 10:37 AM
this idea might be a dud, at least the way I've implemented it here... whoops!

the sampling voltage tracker samples voltages and tracks!

another weekend another side project

it feels so nice to finally have a project for parts I've had lying around for ages... I need adapters though, I wonder where to go😏
October 20, 2025 at 2:06 PM
here's another waveform, I've posted a spice simulation of this before and it's so cool to see this in real life (feedforward pending)

@aisler.net loot part 3/3! arranging the PCBs this way took way too long

it's that time of the year again!
1. Design PCB
2. Order parts
3. Get PCBs but not parts
4. Have PCBs but no parts
5. Get parts
6. PCB has small change
7. Have parts but no PCBs
8. Get PCBs
9. Have both
10. Populate
I am at step 7 right now

@aisler.net loot part 2/3! this is shaping up to be a good weekend

bonus PWM

@aisler.net loot part 1/3! PCBs hold up to close inspection and look very delicious too😋

these days, I always get mine with the rapid registration stencil, a template for which can be freely downloaded and printed!

thank you Aisler for the constant support!

another one for the october PCB design bonanza
October 13, 2025 at 9:17 AM
wien bridge works, the AGC was finicky but now that's up and running too
October 11, 2025 at 7:09 PM
today we're doing low-THD sine generators... the core oscillator is up and running, I need to get the automatic gain control circuit and notch filter (for measurement of THD) built
October 8, 2025 at 9:27 PM
second one... and this is one of those designs that I'm personally not really happy with, but I'll have to put up with it because it's a "test" board and I am too tired to think of something prettier (laying it out took two weeks) ...
October 8, 2025 at 4:23 PM
yep... 27 days later, I have something I'm happy with... off to @aisler.net !

can't we just call it big statistics instead of humanizing it by calling it intelligence
