Saw a beautiful Blue Jay up on the Grand Mesa today. How nice to see snow and a mountain lake in the thin air above 10,000 feet.

I imagine it’s a view from inside a flower about to open and spread its petals as the sun rises.

Tawny Chatmon, a contemporary Maryland-based artist, has many sumptuous, beautiful pieces in a gallery on the top floor. I found their composition, striking colors, and thoughtful construction, including the frames, utterly beautiful.

L.C. Armstrong’s works caught my eye with their beautiful colors and glossy acrylic finish. When I looked closer at the triptych, I noticed frolicking human figures beyond and within the flowers. *Then* I noticed that the flower stems were created using lit bomb fuse!! 🤯

Look at this glorious, bulbous female figure! It’s titled Pregnant Nana by Niki de Saint Phalle, who has a whole gallery for her paintings on the ground floor. This is part of the permanent collection on the 3rd floor.

I finally visited #Brooklyn over the weekend and it did *not* disappoint! What a fascinating and incredible city!!

I just have to visit Staten Island to say I’ve been to all 5 boroughs of #NYC. Not sure that’s worth it, though, from what I’ve heard.

I now understand the hype about BKLN! Awesome!!

Here are several of the #fungi I found alongside the ≈3 mile trail on a picture-perfect day last weekend. 3/
Whitish mushroom with crunchy- toasted- looking spots on top of it on the forest floor amid green ferns. This guy was big! The top was about the size of a baseball! ⚾️ Not sure exactly what’s going on here, but it appears to be an older reddish brown mushroom cap being subsumed by a whispy, white mold in the hollow beside a dead tree branch on the forest floor. Green #moss clump and fallen brown leaves too! Golden, reddish, #fungus fans growing on a mossy dark brown tree stump Small white “bells” dangling from stalks of the same color on the forest floor. What are these?!? Probably fungus, not plants, right??

I immediately went looking for them and found a beautiful specimen at the base of a magnificent hardwood tree. After gathering a few to take home, I researched what I should look for and felt confident enough to sauté them and add to my burger that evening. Delish! 2/
