Someone once said: sports don’t build character; they reveal it.
@minakimes.bsky.social my perspective here - ‘80’s 49ers.
1981: win SB XVI
1982: miss playoffs
1984: win SB XIX
1985: lose wildcard

‘88 - ‘90: 2 more SB’s, 3 straight NFC title games.

Very unusual to see sustained multi-yr success like Montana/SF, Brady/NE or Mahomes/KC.
New column: Why the 2025 Chiefs are the 2024 Chiefs with the luck and timing sliders turned all the way down, the real problems within their 5-5 start, whether they're going to miss the playoffs, and whether we should have seen it coming www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/...
Could the Chiefs ... miss the playoffs? Barnwell sizes up the panic level in Kansas City
The Chiefs are 5-5 after losing to the Broncos. They're third in the AFC West, and ESPN's FPI has them at 55.4% to make the playoffs. Is it time to worry?

No. Trump blessed House GOP voting for the resolution. Lots of off-ramps between that and the files coming out.

Senate can kill it. Trump can veto it. Justice can hide behind its “pending investigation.”

Right question: No House action is needed. Why not order release of the files today?
Trump has called on House Republicans to release the Epstein Files.

What about the Senate? Does he think Republican Senators should vote to release the files? We he veto it?

Maybe someone should ask!
November 17, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Duh.

The predicate will be the “investigation” of Dems Trump just demanded Bondi initiate.

Won’t matter much. Longer the files remain hidden, worse it gets for all of them.

Or more leaks. Still bad for MAGA.
Game is being played.

As soon as Congress votes to release the Epstein files,

DOJ will claim some ongoing investigation that prohibits the release of anything with TACO’s name on it.
November 17, 2025 at 3:16 PM
Trump doesn’t need a congressional resolution - he could order Bondi to release the files.

He won’t. And the questions won’t stop.
Trumpworld is fully circling the wagons with this announcement about supporting the Epstein files vote.

Pretty much every major staffer and adviser has tweeted about it in the past 20-30 mins
November 17, 2025 at 5:52 AM
Or he was told there were going to be many more GOP defectors and his deeply fragile, narcissism-ravaged ego couldn’t handle it. And you can bet someone in the Justice Dept. has a tamper-free version of that file.
He knows they have the votes to filibuster in the Senate.

Or they have successfully destroyed everything showing he knew all about what Epstein was doing.

@mattbarrows.bsky.social

1. How very 49er for Pineiro to be hurt
2. Nick Martin doesn’t look bad.
November 17, 2025 at 12:05 AM
@mattbarrows.bsky.social interested to read whether D-line pressure led to a lot of the AZ holding calls. Absence of sacks makes it a bit harder to interpret.
November 16, 2025 at 11:36 PM
Again, minimal pressure from #49ers’ defensive front. And blitzes aren’t getting home. Huff is lone exception.

“Andy,” “Patrick,” “Steve,” “Travis,” and, of course, “Jim and Tracy.”

Romo makes NFL telecasts sound like roll call at pre-school.
November 16, 2025 at 10:54 PM
Glad 49ers offense is back to its usual self, because this version of the defense is still its usual sorry self.

Respect Dana Bash, but platforming MAGA lies on @cnn.com SOTU = cringeworthy.

Hogan Gidley: “Biden never released #EpsteinFiles!”

Bash: silence.

Facts: Maxwell’s conviction, appeals ended fall ‘24. Files COULDN’T be released.

But nice work promoting MAGA provocateur Scott Jennings’ book.

Nixon and his henchmen went to extraordinary lengths to cover up a two-bit petty theft. Leaks slowly led to multiple criminal convictions and ended a presidency.

Trump and his henchmen are covering up something that appears to be way, way worse. Drip drip drip.
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.
November 16, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Amid the noise, this ⬇️ is important. All of his WH accomplices act as if they’re immune - which they’re not - to criminal and civil liability for all this. And if they’re relying on an implied promise of future, preemptive pardons, they are a) immoral b) soulless and c) stupid.
These are murders on the high seas. Trump may have ‘immunity’ here, but none of his minions do. And none of them have immunity from international courts, in spite of their claims. Nothing says acknowledgment of guilt like making up justification for criminality.

Truly a miracle that household dogs and cats in Springfield OH somehow have survived the voracious appetites of its immigrant population.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Trump’s relationship with Epstein was SO very bad, for SO long, that they spent Thanksgiving together - in 2017, almost a full year into his first term.
Trump: Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years. You have got to find out what did he know with respect to Bill Clinton… all those people that knew including JP Morgan Chase..

Reporter: If there is nothing incriminating in the files, why not—

Trump: QUIET! QUIET!

NFL on CBS: The network that replaced a wacky former quarterback, sometimes-unintelligible top color analyst with … another wacky, former quarterback, sometimes-unintelligible top color analyst.
The funny thing here is he complains next about completion percentage not account for down and distance...which is what QBR does
November 15, 2025 at 12:59 AM
If you care about this, keep repeating over and over:
1. TRUMP CAMPAIGNED on releasing the Epstein files - then was told his name is all over them.
2. Suspicious file materials date back YEARS before he was elected.
3. They spent T’giving together DURING his 1st term.

This is no “Dem hoax.”
This is a better answer than I gave on The Source to @kaitlancollins.bsky.social last night.
November 14, 2025 at 8:41 PM
“We are going to unmask the secrets surrounding Jeffrey Epstein!!! WE will release those files!” (Trump and acolytes, before taking office.)

“Oh s**t. He’s all over these files. What do we do now?”

If you ever hear the idiom, “The Dog Finally Caught The Car,” THIS is what that means.
November 14, 2025 at 6:56 PM
Trump courted anti-vaxxers not b/c he distrusts vaccines; he wanted their votes. He courted Epstein conspiracy theorists in a craven drive for their votes.

He never intended to release those files. And he never believed any MAGA Republicans would turn on him.
November 14, 2025 at 4:09 AM
Same day the WH announced it intends to never release inflation or jobs data for October.
We are really ruled by the dumbest people in existence.
November 13, 2025 at 3:27 PM
The one skill a minority leader MUST have is the will and skill to hold their caucus together. Nancy Pelosi was a master.

Chuck Schumer is a bumbling idiot. His floor speech last night was cringe-worthy. Republicans played him like a fiddle.
This is a bad deal, and the old way of doing things is clearly not working.

We need new leaders in the Senate.
November 10, 2025 at 3:14 PM
@timkawakami.bsky.social This depleted defense is painful to watch. Another middling trade deadline addition wouldn’t have made much if any difference.
