Tucson’s city attorney has filed a request to intervene at the Arizona Corporation Commission to protect TEP customers. We’ll be at the ACC meeting Wednesday morning to tell them to vote no on the deal. We’ll also be at the Pima County Board of Supervisors to tell them we expect them to act too.

Update on the last two weeks of data center BS in Pima County: Beale wants the land for Christmas, the ACC gives us two weeks warning before voting on the TEP/Beale energy service agreement, Marana announces public hearings for land twice the size of Project Blue for data centers. Happy holidays!!

Yesterday, our movement mobilized on short notice to protest TEP, the Canadian-owned for-profit energy monopoly that’s been making our electric bills a nightmare. They’re poised to supply power to Project Blue, but we’re in their way and not backing down.

Our privately owned electric utility, TEP, and a developer, Beale Infrastructure, disregarded overwhelming community opposition for a proposed hyperscale data center east of Tucson. TEP has a proposal with the Arizona Corporation Commission that they'll vote on next week. Here's what you can do.

This would be a great present for them and leave us, the residents of Pima County, with nothing. Not even a lump of coal, which is also what they’ll burn to power this monster. Here’s what you can do... We have been determined and passionate because we are informed. Many of you have asked -- what's next?  Well, last week you heard Mayor Romero call for guardrails for large water users and data centers. This effort is currently in process, both at the city and county level.  This is great, but we want to be absolutely sure that experts are consulted, Tribal leaders from the Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui Nations are consulted, and that the public has a chance to weigh in, too. Because that will take some time, we are calling for a moratorium in the consideration of data centers until these processes are complete. We're also calling for a totally transparent public process. You can also attend the public hearing on 8/21 at 6pm at the Benson School District Cafeteria (360 S Patagonia St, Benson, AZ). - Save the Scenic Santa Ritas  in their resistance to the Copper World mine.  - Marana, as a company that runs for-profit prisons and detention centers recently bought a closed state prison.  - Patagonia Area Resource Alliance (PARA) as they continue their fight to protect the Patagonia Mountains and the Sonoita Creek Watershed from mining.  There is a lot happening right now; with all that is happening at the federal level, we expect things to get harder. We encourage you to support resistance efforts where you can and rest when you need to. These are all interconnected struggles and require all of us to contribute in the ways we are able. We can make history when we come together.  Remember, collectively, we stopped a massive data center in seven weeks. And there is more to do to further protect our water, land, and community. The City Manager wants city council and the community to trust these corporations with our scarce water and expensive power. We say no!
