Writer. Home: blank page, screen or stage. Chiefly here to discuss screenwriting, film + TV. Queen of typos. Partnered by my editor-in-chief, Tiggy (cat). Lover of cake, otters, owls, hares and wildlife/conservation.
No matter how many times I read reports like this one it breaks my heart. Creative talent isn’t bestowed on which class, gender or ethnicity you come from. All too frequently opportunities are. When you silence ‘voices’ you also silence the communities they represent. #ScriptSkyUK #ScriptSky

UK folk: if you have clear skies near you right now there’s a pretty good chance of you seeing the #auroraborealis or #NorthernLights.

This is the kind of tone we need to hear from our UK PM today and every European PM and president towards this massive bully.

Happy 16th birthday to my wonderful editor-in-chief. Adopting him was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. He’s unconditional pure love, light and joy in a fur coat. So proud of how far this boy has come from his former life as an abused lad. Love you to bits. #CatsofBluesky #cats #AdoptACat 💕

This quote from John Stuart Mill, often misquoted and incorrectly attributed, feels a prescient today as ever.

We’re in an age where our leaders will be judged as much by what they didn’t do or say as what they did do when they see wrongdoing in the world by other leaders or despots.

Watching… because Rob Reiner brought light into this world through his fabulous movies.

Not only is this an excellent 🧵 on why AI shouldn’t be permitted within academia, it beautifully explains the main reasons why it’s so damaging to us both culturally and towards our planet. For the creative folk among us take a look at the final lines highlighted here. It can’t think or create.

Here’s what that wallpaper looked like. Have tried hunting it down, including a place that sells discontinued wallpapers. Would have looked wonderful in my home. Particularly in my sitting which doesn’t get any sunshine from mid November to end of January. 😢

I think poet William Blake may have had the right idea. He’s pictured here with pen in hand and looking off into the distance. He had daydreaming off to a fine art. Though he described it as being divine, as reaching into another world. For him it was real as the lived world.

In its own way this photo of Hemingway pictured surrounded by books, newspapers and cats is pretty sexy.

But seriously, I agree with @sonicscrewup.bsky.social here. Bet they could and great photoshoots that really show off how great writers are.

“Just dangle that pen… Great. Now look wistful.”

Fancy a recap to see how much outreach your #BlueSky account has had during 2025? This was a neat bit of fun. Only takes a couple of minutes to do. Check out anisota.net/harvest to see much more detailed analysis. Can’t imagine why #ScriptSkyUK and #ScriptSky have featured so heavily. 😉

As we ease into December with the upcoming festivities closely upon us, I can’t help thinking the Icelandic people have a delightful idea about how we to spend Christmas Eve. Frankly, I would happily adopt gifting and receiving a book, going to bed to read and eat chocolate. #Booksky #Jolabokaflod

Only just heard the very sad news about Tom Stoppard’s passing. He was an incredible playwright and screenwriter. ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead’ immediately spring to mind, of course, but also loved ‘Rock ‘n Roll’ and ‘Arcadia.’ What a legacy of brilliant work he’s left in his wake.

Going through some old digital photos, came across this gem quote from David Fincher, about surviving the movie business and getting stuff made.

Think this tenacity and perseverance also works for screenwriters as much as directors.

Bad enough that they’ve wrongfully attributed that Mary Shelley was inspired by a man to write ‘Frankenstein,’ but just to add insult to injury this article was written by a woman for Cosmopolitan magazine. It ‘exists’ because Shelley bloody wrote it.

The adorable Pauline Collins has left us. An incredible actress on both the big and small screen during her long career. Met her beloved husband John Alderton while making Upstairs, Downstairs. Best known for playing Shirley Valentine in the adaptation of Willy Russell’s play. RIP & thank you!

Actor Eddie Marsan makes brilliant points in relation to ‘posh’ actors being promoted over actors from working-class and more diverse backgrounds. Likewise, it doesn’t help when w/c & diverse screenwriters aren’t having their ‘voices’ heard on screen. news.sky.com/story/posh-b...
