So this is Christmas. And what have we done? The Ashes is over. With two Tests still to come

Yesterday I watched two films (TWO!) and they were both good. The Holdovers and the new Knives Out.

I just love Day 1 of a Test Match.

Yes, yes, it’s the hope that kills etc.

Just to say, if you know someone parenting a kid alone, especially a small one, see if you can buy a present that the kid can give to their parent. Even take the kid shopping so they can choose. It's not even about the money - the parent might happily pay for someone else to do this kindness.

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

(Yes I’m watching the cricket ‘as live’ like a nerd, what of it?)

Sad to read of the death of Robin Smith. One of my mum’s cricket crushes during the 90’s when I spent the school summer holidays glued to the test matches on the TV. Another gone far too young.

This is tantalisingly close to £3k.
The news moves on, but the lives of Jamaicans are still very difficult. Every bit helps (shares cost nothing but can be incredibly helpful).

The David Bowie of ducks.
Today’s #AutumnArrivalSpotlight is the Smew!

A rare and late winter visitor, these small, striking birds are a treat to spot on UK lakes.

Males sport a 'panda-like' black-and-white plumage, while females show off a chestnut cap.

Keep an eye out for these stylish divers! 😍

This is so frustrating 😖
Last night, Peers voted against Swift bricks: rejecting a simple, proven way to help one of our fastest declining birds recover. ❌

We share @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social's disappointment & frustration.

The vote came late, but with government refusing to back it, its fate was already sealed.

Still reckon this was a big moment. If Garth had run through instead of sending Gardner back, Australia might have powered on rather than whimpered to a close. #cricket

Poor play from Garth there. With Gardner hitting sixes she should have just run and sold her own wicket for the run out. #cricket #CWC

That could be a really big wicket. Richa could have won it for them on her own. #cricket #CWC25
