Worker groups like @notechforapartheid.bsky.social and No Azure For Apartheid have been pressuring Microsoft for months or years on issues like these.
Microsoft tries to silence dissent and make workers feel powerless--but they aren't.

This weekend, we held a rally against the dangerous alliance developing between Trump and tech billionaires.

We joined organizers fighting Big Tech’s data centers, and tech workers @notechforapartheid.bsky.social holding tech corporations accountable for participating in the genocide in Palestine.

I’m joining hundreds of other #Google workers fasting today in solidarity with people in Gaza who are being forcibly starved. Mutual aid is part of this weekly campaign. Here is one way you can help today. Follow Molly’s incredible work to continue to find ways to help Palestinians directly.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Hala. Hala is only 16 years old and is a very popular singer in Gaza (you should check her out www.instagram.com/hala_e_omar?...). Her and her family are being forced to flee Gaza City and live in tents in the South. They need help ❤️

Sustained and escalating collective worker power & action is one of the few levers that can end Google executives’ obscene and growing partnership with the Israeli death machine. After all, workers, not executives, are the ones who power Google itself.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
As Google workers, we have a duty to categorically reject our company’s complicity in genocide. We must stand up, speak out, and demand that Google drop Project Nimbus and end all business with the Israeli government, new and old.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
As Google workers, it is our duty to understand the responsibility that comes with managing the world’s largest ad network, and, as Google’s own mission states, “organizing the world’s information.”
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
It's clear that Google will continue enabling the genocide by any and all means at executives' disposal, including by hosting Israel’s false, propagandistic ads, until its financial interests through Project Nimbus are ended.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
Google's investment in Israel's military infrastructure represent big tech's continuous buy-in to the Israeli war machine. These investments are driven by pure profit motive: through this ad contract, Google execs are developing further incentives for the company to enable apartheid & genocide.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
Google also rushed to sign a new $45M contract with Israel to host propaganda ads denying the siege and starvation in Gaza, discrediting the UN's accurate descriptions of Israel’s violations of international law, and falsely accusing the UN of “deliberate sabotage” of aid delivery into Gaza.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
Just as Google rushed to provide Israel with AI and cloud computing tools through Project Nimbus––Amazon and Google’s joint $1.2 billion cloud computing contract with the Israeli military and government––
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
Along with cloud computing services and AI technologies, Google is now leveraging its massive advertising network to deny an ongoing genocide and shield those responsible.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
This new reporting reveals that Google is enabling Israel’s genocidal crusade with another weapon of genocide: a global platform to spread propaganda.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
According to reporting by @dropsitenews.com, Israel started planning PR damage control the moment it announced its blockade in March. We now know that this propaganda machine is enabled and powered by Google.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
This inhumane campaign of forced starvation is waking the world up to Israel's genocide of nearly two years, and is shedding light on additional institutions who are complicit in it — like tech giants such as @Google & @amazon
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
Over 300 Palestinians have died from starvation since March, including over 100 children, with countless on the verge of severe, irreversible malnutrition.
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
Israel's ongoing blockade of water, food, fuel, and medical supplies to Gaza has forced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians into what the United Nations has designated a “massive famine.”
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
The appalling lies in Israel’s ads stand in contrast to the true intentions of the government, whose leaders like Bezalel Smotrich gave the following orders to the Israeli military: “No water, no electricity. [Palestinians] can die of hunger or surrender.”
notechforapartheid.bsky.social
As Israel's siege on Gaza starves greater numbers of Palestinians each day, Google is executing a $45 million contract directly with the Israeli government in order to disseminate propaganda that falsely denies its ongoing genocide against and forced starvation upon Palestinians.

Screenshot from email, part 1: Hello Everyone,

We hope you've gotten some rest after this wild summer we've had in the fight against Project Blue. Many of you have asked -- what's next?

Well, last week you heard Mayor Romero call for guardrails for large water users and data centers. This effort is currently in process, both at the city and county level.

This is great, but we want to be absolutely sure that experts are consulted, Tribal leaders from the Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui Nations are consulted, and that the public has a chance to weigh in, too. Because that will take some time, we are calling for a moratorium in the consideration of data centers until these processes are complete. We're also calling for a totally transparent public process. Screenshot from email, part 2: What You Can Do

- Write or call the Mayor & Council AND the Pima County Board of Supervisors
    - Ask for a moratorium in the consideration of data centers until there is ample time to consult regional experts, Tribal leaders, and the public. Tell them that we expect transparency throughout this process.
        - Reference the ward map and find your council members here.

        - Find Pima County Board of Supervisors here (click the Supervisor and find their contact phone and email on the upper righthand corner).

- Attend the upcoming meetings where these guardrails will be discussed:
    - August 18th at 9am : Pima County Board of Supervisors Meeting
        - Pima County Administration Building
            130 W. Congress St.
1st Floor, Board of Supervisors Hearing Room

    - August 19th at 5:30pm : City Council Meeting
        - Mayor & Council Chambers
            City Hall, 1st floor
            255 W. Alameda

- Eloy, as the massive data center Vermaland was recently proposed there.

- Benson, as a  huge aluminum plant is proposed there, right next to the San Pedro River. Join the resistance here. You can also attend the public hearing on 8/21 at 6pm at the Benson School District Cafeteria (360 S Patagonia St, Benson, AZ).

- Save the Scenic Santa Ritas  in their resistance to the Copper World mine.

- Marana, as a company that runs for-profit prisons and detention centers recently bought a closed state prison.

- Patagonia Area Resource Alliance (PARA) as they continue their fight to protect the Patagonia Mountains and the Sonoita Creek Watershed from mining.

There is a lot happening right now; with all that is happening at the federal level, we expect things to get harder. We encourage you to support resistance efforts where you can and rest when you need to. These are all interconnected struggles and require all of us to contribute in the ways we are able. We can make history when we come together.

Remember, collectively, we stopped a massive data center in seven weeks. And there is more to do to further protect our water, land, and community. Your participation will make a difference. Thank you for joining in the effort! Any questions? Feel free to write us back.

In Solidarity,
No Desert Data Centers
