It was incredibly moving to hear Prof Nickel and other non-citizen professors testify in court about the ways in which the arrests and deportations of students had affected them and their colleagues. So grateful to them for their integrity and courage. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

It's a pretty big deal that the NYC Bar Association--one of the most prominent and respected bar associations in the country--is accusing the President of ordering the "unlawful summary execution," i.e. murder--of civilians in violation of US and international law. www.nycbar.org/press-releas...

13 Waymo robots in a mile is rookie numbers, ie early phase S-curve.

13 Waymo robots in a row is an event at the Chase Center, Symphony, Cow Palace, etc, ie late phase S-curve.

Reminder: Waymo had ~0 VMT growth in both San Francisco and Phoenix for their last reported quarter, 2025Q2.

I have just seen 13 Waymos in a one mile distance on El Camino Real close to the San Fransisco airport.

This is going to have a devastating impact on so many workers. And it’s not even clearly safe. We are part of this big experiment in private driverless mobility/environmental disaster. 😞

NHTSA closed their year+ investigation of Waymo. Waymo's 2 recalls re to this investigation were for crashing into a utility pole and roadway barriers. Evidently, robots repeatedly driving on the wrong side of the road into traffic and disobeying traffic control devices is ok in USA. Scale that.

I just told my teenager that at his age, my grandmother was married and cooking for her in-laws on a cow dung fueled stove while he can’t load the dishwasher.

This means I am ready to play a desi auntie in a Gurinder Chaddha film.

Proposed reply:

Dear Secretary McMahon,

Our offer is this: Nothing. Not even the fee for the gaming license, which we would appreciate if you’d put up personally.

Sincerely,

“No self-respecting university could ever accept something like this,” said Lee Bollinger, a First Amendment scholar and former Columbia University president. “Trying to protect conservative ideas against being ‘belittled’ — that’s about as violative of the First Amendment interests as you can get.”
Colleges weigh whether to sign onto Trump plan or forgo federal benefits
A new proposal from the Trump administration would give colleges funding advantages if they adopt conservative priorities.

I spoke to a Venezuelan woman who was arrested in this raid and later released with her 4yo son. She said agents broke down their door, pointed guns at them and made sexualized remarks about Venezuelan women. When she returned to her apartment it was boarded up and all her possessions were gone.

If we get through this, someone should write a casebook based on all the lawsuits filed against the Trump administration, divided up into different areas of law: 1st A, APA, Civil Rights Act, INA, 10th A, NLRA, Just Cause, etc. Would be fascinating.
