He's talked in interviews about not being a sci fi person, but he did a lot of sci fi shows and films because that's where the animation industry was at the time. He didn't think his interests were commercial enough. If you look at Tomino's other series, you see the lack of Yas's influence in them.

Lau-Kar Leung is easily the best of the Shaw Brothers directors, and his filmography is more diverse than you would expect. He basically co-creates the king fu comedy at the same time Jackie does in the late 70s.

Yeah, it was that cover and this Golden Age Sandman pin up from the previous year. Chiarello later admitted he created the original series as a ploy to get one more story out of Toth. Goodwin wrote the Gary Gianni air gyro story originally for Toth, who backed out but did the cover instead.

Hudson has talked about the fact that when he auditioned for the role, Winston was a fellow scientist who was in the film from the beginning, then after he was cast the entire character was re-written so he's just a normal guy in it for the paycheck. There's a lot going on there.
