An earnest thread on my approach to teaching information literacy with younger people. The key habits you want to instill in people as early as possible is to stop thinking about information as being a thing ("what") you find in a place ("where") and to frame ALL questions around authorship ("who").

This era (1930z/1940s) of Hollywood is full of movies like this. . . and then a lot of these screenwriters (like Donald Ogden Stewart) were blacklisted because this kind of radical politics was thought of as anti-American. . .
A failure of memory: Hepburn and Tracy ("Keeper of the Flame," 1942) This is a prescient treatment of fascism and the idea that the public will happily embrace authoritarianism if it's delivered by someone they admire. That this feels relevant in 2026 is not a coincidence!

I saw this video of a Vietnam vet in the fur coat yelling at ICE and thought to myself, "this is missing something," before I realized, "Ah, of course, the Ether instrumental. It's so obvious."

Need to be careful about sharing photos, but these were taken by Chris Juhn, a photojournalist in Minneapolis.

You can find them on his FB page below. The officer is firing a pepperball.

Hohoho! I drew this year's holiday card for my art rep, Felix Comic Art. I wanted the recipients to get something that looked like a piece of vintage original art, but also couldn't help poking some fun at Felix's love for Dark Knight Returns.

When I interviewed Spinal Tap and Marty DiBergi this summer, none of them broke character, for the whole hour. Except Rob Reiner, once, losing it when Michael McKean's David St Hubbins talked about minimalism. I didn't use this in the feature and hadn't published any audio, but this is joyful.

Huh. Ian Kennedy Martin wrote Mitchell. He basically cut-n-pasted the "Buzz off, kid!" scene from a script he wrote for The Sweeney. Having seen the #MST3K version of Mitchell a million times, seeing this scene in a British context with two different actors feels like a fever dream.
