It reminds me how we’ve heard BTS talk about how they’ve all wanted to walk away from the chaos of their lives. But how they stayed. Not for fame or money…and not even for the love of music. They have been very clear that they stay FOR EACH OTHER.

How the boy is throw into a chaotic and violent world where everyone is an adult except him? And how they drag him along as if he’s one of them? They don’t seem to see what we see: he’s small, and they’re crushing him. +

Falling in love again with RM’s Domodachi from RPWP!

The song is so eerie with its creepy chorus of fake friends singing their refrain “let’s dance here!” like they’re sirens. The dissonance between the lyrics and the music really gets Namjoon’s point across: these ppl aren’t his friends. +

And then you realize…ARMY can make them feel how BTS makes us feel: connected, heard, appreciated.

It’s an idol’s job to make their ~fans~ feel like that. But I think this reciprocity is what sets ARMY/BTS apart. I’ve been in a lot of fandoms in my life, and I’ve never seen anything like it. +

The thing about the parasocial BTS/ARMY relationship is that it is genuinely, honestly reciprocal. Like, I really try to keep my delulu in check—I’m a grown-ass adult. But you can’t watch NJ’s most recent live and deny how mutual and real the connection is. +

Just watched NJ’s live and I am literally bawling. How does he always manage to say the inside thoughts of my brain out loud? Maybe everyone in our 30s is worried about the same things…

I just…appreciate him. It feels so good to have someone say these things out loud for me.

Art Basel also did a podcast episode with Namjoon in June 2022 (recorded before 13th June, as the preamble will make clear.) It's really enjoyable to hear Namjoon extemporate about art in his own voice, and not in a magazine article. The interviewer is great too.

Idk…I really left that movie thinking how we can ~see~ their growth as performers and artists. I’m so excited to see that growth apply to the next album…and the next and the next!

With BTS, every choreo, concert, album is more advanced than the last.

I can’t wait to see what they do!

Performance-wise, i feel like choreo became more connected to the music and more…authentic?I’m not a dancer idk.

Compare Begin/Bapsae to something like run bts/SNTY. Not saying the old choreo was bad, it isn’t! It just feels young and kinda boybandy.

The new choreo feels more tied to the songs.
