Chief sandwich maker, car washer and haiku writer in residence. I used to design structures now I just admire them.
Joseph and I went to the Condors - Wranglers game this afternoon. Pretty tight checking affair. Tomkins looked great in the Condors’ net. Good to see some almost Oilers in person. Jones, Hutson, Hamblin, Jarventie and Stillman stood out to me. Final score 1-0 Bakersfield. Jones with the O/T winner.

One more book I managed to finish this year was Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Received it as a gift, hadn’t heard about it at the time and read it without any expectations. Was pleasantly surprised. Easy to read and easy to care for the characters. Strongly recommended.

Finished reading Number 9 Dream by David Mitchell, the author of Coud Atlas. Not as enjoyable of a read as the latter but full of fantastical plot twists and some interesting characters. The book jacket describes it as a mix of Dickens and Salinger, and it’s not wrong.

Caught the Steven Page trio with the CPO at the Jubilee Auditorium last night. Fantastic performance. The set list included some recent solo stuff, some BNL classics and a few seasonal tunes. The orchestral arrangements and sound were amazing. Hoping somebody recorded the show for future release.

Caught Mark Critch at Wordfest tonight talking about his latest book Sorry, Not Sorry. Great stories, lots of Canada appreciation, many laughs and free Cheezies! Host Ali Bryan was funny too. All around fun event. #Wordfest #yyc

Caught Sloan’s show at the Palace in Calgary. Two sets with songs drawn from almost their entire catalogue. Loved the Marquee and the Moon! Nothing from Commonwealth 🙁 though so I guess I’ll be back next time they’re in town.

Finished reading The Librarianist by Patrick deWitt. Similar in tone to his earlier book The French Exit. Interesting/quirky characters. Lots of snickers throughout and a few laugh out loud passages. At least one Dickensian plot twist and a satisfying ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of five (can’t do 1/2 stars).

Snapped this pic on the way to the Springsteen show last week. Great piece of public art and the building ain’t too shabby.

Is LinkedIn farming their algorithm out to X now? I joined LinkedIn to stay current with my industry and stay in touch with colleagues not to follow grifter charlatans. Thanks for the suggestion but I’ll pass on it.

Keanu Reeves follows me! Well, actually KeanuReeves003 🫤. Apparently he’s only two Keanus removed from the real thing.

Still haven’t heard Rosalita live but other than that no complaints with last night’s Springsteen show in Calgary. The Boss isn’t slowing down and he proved it all night.
