Chief sandwich maker, car washer and haiku writer in residence. I used to design structures now I just admire them.
Two weeks late but still a way better listen than the last (or any) West of Centre podcast.
Shannon Phillips’ eulogy for the Notwithstanding Clause choked me up and her breathy delivery on Trudeau’s tribute cracked me up. Carter deserves kudos too for casting PP as Icarus. Well done Strategists!

You left out the part where 50,000 homes in this city didn’t even have water meters 15 years ago. The management of our water system seemed to follow the Alberta Advantage philosophy, high service expectations, low taxes, let our kids pay for it.

Sarah McLachlin-Better Broken, still in great voice. The title track is close to perfection.
Bahamas-My Second Last Record, more clever lyrics and innovative guitar tones. Hopefully the next album isn’t his last one. 5/5

Jeff Tweedy-Twilight Override, a triple album of sorts. Not quite All Things Must Pass, but several gems in the set list (Enough, This Is How it Ends).
Ron Sexsmith-Hangover Terrace, more quality songs to add to a lengthy catalog. More energetic than his last two offerings.
4/5

Cheap Trick-All Washed Up, more power pop from the godfathers of the form. A few more classics to add to the catalog (The Riff That Won’t Quit, Long Way to Worcester).
Envy of None-Stygian Waves, good follow-up to their first album. Lifeson is a more versatile guitar player than I ever imagined.3/5

Goose-Everything Must Go, not to be confused with the previous pick. Pretty eclectic stylistically, some nice grooves.
Sloan-Based on the Bestseller, more solid power pop from one of my favourite bands. All of Jay and Andrew’s tunes really jump out.
2/5
