A room with a sociological view.
Without a doubt, Trump, Stephen Miller & Co. will use this media high tide of theirs to push through as many odious, unpopular, and frankly unlawful policies while the news cycle remains favorable.

They can't do these things when he's on the back foot.

MTG deserted Trump amid an internal struggle in MAGA where the movement might tear itself apart. On top of that, Trump's poll numbers are abysmal.

He needed to retake conversational control, and the shooting of National Guard members permitted that, just as the "Big Balls" assault did weeks ago.

This time, capitulation of the govt shutdown by Dems was bookended by blowouts at the ballot box & deft maneuvering of the Epstein file discharge petition in the Senate.

Compounding this were WH failures in court, where cases against Jim Comey & Letitia James were tossed due to rank incompetence.

We've seen this ebb & flow several times over the last year. He lost nearly two months after the original Epstein file misstep, then reasserted control w/ the "Big Balls" assault, leading to the DC occupation.

The No Kings protest in Oct led to the near-immediate destruction of the East Wing.

He cannot overrule the Constitution. The 16th Amendment establishes the income tax, and it vests the power to levy such tax in Congress.

It's complicated to distill in a 300-char post, but while racism didn't need to be imported into the US (possibly the racism capital of the world), there really have been converts to racism over the last decade. Brand new racists.

Ideologically, he HAS to believe this. Otherwise, the other pieces of the ideology don't make sense.

1. Outsiders can't assimilate.
2. "Native-born" (i.e., WASPs [and selected others]) are the only "true" Americans.
3. Birthright citizenship is false.

Once those are accepted, kick nonwhites out.

Frontotemporal dementia leads to inappropriateness and clear social faux pas. Not that Trump had much propriety at the start, but what little restraint he had is draining away rapidly.
Trump called a woman reporter “Piggy” today. Cuz he was in a mood.

Real Statesman-like shit from this man. Every day.

What a fucking embarrassment.

The poors can taste the difference between generic and branded stuff, Kevin.

Also, as I recall, there's actually LESS stuff in this year's dinner package.

It may not be a crime, but it's absolutely a degradation.

1. In those cases, the description is not false. It's just an adjective.

2. "Incitement to murder" implies an imminent threat, and simply calling someone a descriptive word does not rise to that threshold. See Brandenburg v Ohio (1969).

Just so you know, there are two different types of Alzheimer's: familial (i.e., inherited) and sporadic (i.e., cause unknown). So some studies may focus only on familial Alzheimer's, looking at genes, whereas others might examine the other type.

His father, a first-degree relative, died of dementia. It's likely that, plus his lifestyle factors (and the fact, as I've noted several times, that he nearly died from COVID, probably suffering from hypoxia in the process).
