Whenever anarchism — or any idea more radical than the status quo — gets dismissed as unserious, it's worth remembering the current system runs on things like "we put all the money on a scam machine that tells rich dipshits they're god."

Hey, you guys?

Is it a good sign or a bad sign if a federal judge has to remind you (multiple times) that you’re a lawyer and an officer of the court?
annabower.bsky.social
Immergut: You're an officer of the court. Do you believe this is appropriate way to deal with my order?

Hamilton: I'm not a policy maker

Immergut: You're a lawyer

In response, Hamilton basically argues no geographic limit to federalization of CA guard...

What does de-dollarisation mean in practice? How does it relate to global law and governance?

My article 'Dollar Dominance, De-Dollarization, and International Law' is now out in JIEL. I present dollar dominance and de-dollarisation as competing legal institutions.

Not even the prospect of a $20 billion bailout paid by U.S. taxpayers is stabilizing Argentina after Milei’s peso/dollar manipulation failed. His sister (and chief of staff) is caught in a bribery scandal, and his top candidate was caught taking $200k from a narco. It’s over.

hope EU member states take this historical opportunity to NOT be weird xenophobic loser-monkeys and instead fast-track citizenship for researchers who relocate (as well as for their families)

This is probably a desired goal for the Trump regime? They have inconsistent preferences mind you so there's another sense in which this is undesired. But "drive out the intelligentsia and weaken academia" is, under this aspect, a favoured policy goal of theirs.

since early 2025 I have set up a monthly donation to Wikipedia (one of humanity’s greatest achievements) and you should too. AI is (partly) a reaction against the extraordinary democratic promise that is Wikipedia.
volts.wtf
We laugh at this shit -- I mean, how can you not? -- but it's serious: these guys want to infuse reactionary thinking into AI and then infuse AI into every nook & cranny of American life. They can't win the argument so they are trying to blunt-force their views onto us with money & power.
