I post cool things that I find in the forest. 🌳 Unreliable identifier of mushrooms, plants and insects. Photos by me. She/her.

Coral slime and moss.
#slimemold #moss #fungifriends
Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa slime mold, looking like white, semi-transparent coral with many tendrils or fingers sticking out. It is intermixed with some nice green moss. I don’t know how to identify moss.

If they keep me alive, I can transport and distribute their spores over a larger distance! (Pleading)

I was trying to photograph Groove-billed Anis this morning, but I was photobombed by his scofflaw.

A tapir resting in green grass with two small black birds nearby—one perched on its back and the other on the ground in front.

Happy #Invertober day 8!

Bee-killer robber fly (mallophora fautrix)

#SciArt #Invertober2025
A black and gold insect that looks like a bee but is actually a species of fly that mimics bees. It is crawling through thick green grass.

So you’re saying I should breathe less of their spores. Hmmm.

Glad to see libraries and others resist this stuff.
If I was a teenager, this list would make it very clear to me which books are interesting to read :D

We’re probably about the same age.

That’s insane. Here we don’t do that because banning books is seen as banning ideas and that is a sign of fascism.
Crazy to see things like Slaughterhouse Five on there. They banned an anti war book? What do they want with that?
nuiipointer.bsky.social
What makes you think that? We have only one banned book and it is Mein Kampf. I was well aware of that as a child.

I wasn’t sure if this was funny or concerning, because I wasn’t sure if that was police or an ambulance.
Yeah, it’s funny.

My sauna bucket looks just like this. I use the handle as a stand for the wooden sauna scoop.

Nothing would have motivated me more to read as a child than banning books. As stupid as this is, it might function as an unintended reading program 🙃

Ah, it looked like a calf to me. But maybe it’s just the angle, my noobness and the fact that tapirs are naturally cute.

Since when did you know you wanted to be a funghi speciale? 🍄‍🟫
A single, large mushroom, a giant umbrella mushroom, stands on the green forest floor on the left of the picture. Far in the background, trees in the forest are out of focus.
Auf grün bewachsenem Waldboden steht links im Bild ein einzelner, groß gewachsener Pilz, ein Riesenschirmling. Weit im Hintergrund unscharf Bäume im Wald.

It might be that it’s so close that some purple light from the mushroom is reflecting off the wet leaf stem.

Huh. Just regular splitgills? These guys?

Een slijmzwam is normaal gesproken niet rubberig maar meer nat. Een schimmel?

Hmm. Do they grow on cadavers?
