A couple of weeks ago, I thought we’d seen the last Toadflax Brocade caterpillar of the year, but no. Today I found another one.

Taken the lawnmower way out to the Pilot Path, Dungeness today for its annual mow

This is to help the Autumn Ladies Tresses as there are no sheep or goats to do the munching

Moved a Large Conehead out the way - which is my first of the year

You might see the wonderful work we have done for the Small Blue if you click on the links below. Even though the project ran 2009-12 weeks are still actively managing those sites & working hard at ensuring the butterfly continues to thrive in Warwickshire 😀🦋

The very fine ♂️ Turkestan Shrike, in the gathering twilight at Dunwich last night ~ it really seemed to like this particular gorse perch, returning to it frequently with food items as the sun set and the full moon began to really shine...

The Strid Wood in Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, last week, had a superabundance of shrooms - most of them I can’t ID to species (they require breaking bits off, or sniffing) so am sticking with genus for most. Ink and watercolour drawings in my sketchbook.

Precious moment in the fleeting Wivenhoe sun this morning of a pair of German Wasps snatching an intimate moment... Really brought home the size difference. This is peak wasp mating time, with the male destined to die soon; the newly mated queens being the only ones to overwinter #criticalmoment
