I want the era of TV back where seasons actually wrap up something, anything at all.

because i enjoy pretty much everything else they do. you can tell they have EVE players on their design team. you can tell they get a lot of time for research (physx? with rust? reinforcement learning enemy AI?)

the confusion between the 20+ different things that are AI is deliberate, because the word gets you funding.
also, sure, AI placeholders is a bit like tracing an image you generated. but the games industry has been doing equivalents of that for years and the quality diff will probably sort itself

tl;dr: GenAI and game design concepts traditionally referred to as "AI" (enemy behaviors, pathfinding, etc.) are not the same thing, and I'm on my knees begging people to learn the difference, lest we see more bullshit claims like what The Escapist put out re: Blue Prince.

this actually very coherently conveys what i've been struggling to say in a way that doesn't sound like i'm making excuses for generative ai
a lot of people in games and movies as these art forms are further cannibalised want to hold a position of we should go back to when the exploitation was just the right amount where i still got cool shit out of it and unfortunately its just not a serious position. can't put it back in the bottle
