Chag Sukkot Sameach, New Yorkers!

Sukkot is a wonderful reminder of our wanderings and our shared fragility—and that the only way through is solidarity.

Ended the day at 26 Federal Plaza with the Lab Shul All Faith Atonement Rally for Justice and Peace.

We prayed for peace and held hands together in a circle of courage and compassion, committed to change.

Grateful to Rabbis for Ceasefire, @jfrejnyc.bsky.social and the other organizers of yesterday's mass mourning and collective atonement at Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Let us steady and care for one another, and persevere together. #YomKippur

Trump and Kristi Noem and Tricia McLaughlin can say what they want.

But Americans can see with our own eyes what's happening. And we're not going to stop showing up until they stop abducting our neighbors.

The violence by ICE at 26 Federal Plaza is really escalating—with innocent journalists and civilians being thrown to the ground by masked agents.

I explained to @nicollewallace.bsky.social how it's all unfolding.

Funding for infrastructure projects is not a political pawn. New Yorkers reject this asinine, authoritarian move.

And we will not back down.

Relieved to learn that there are no injuries resulting from the gas explosion at Alexander Avenue and E 135th Street in the Bronx this morning, and grateful to first responders on the scene.

The FDNY said it is responding to a partial building collapse at a NYCHA building in the south Bronx following a reported gas explosion.

ICE is terrorizing our communities with uncontrolled excessively violent behavior.

Last week, Comptroller Lander and I demanded DOJ criminally investigate an ICE agent who assaulted a mother in front of her two children.

This type of behavior isn’t “law enforcement.” It must be held to account.

Read this before you buy lunch today. ⬇️

Not only is Cava serving up "slop," they make an appearance on our Employer Wall of Shame.

Thanks @slate.com and @calllmenadira.net for factoring workers' rights into your "slop bowl" rankings!
calllmenadira.net
I ranked all of the popular Slop Bowls for @slate.com!

Through my research, I found horror stories of customers allegedly being served severed fingers, class action lawsuits, and glorious, gooey mac and cheese.

Capitalism may ruin everything, but that doesn't mean we need to abandon discernment!

We recommend that the state pass the TEMP Act, and that the City work with unions, worker centers, and public health officials to protect street vendors, delivery workers, and all outdoor workers in extreme heat and air quality emergencies.
Safeguarding Outdoor Workers in a Changing Climate
Executive Summary Climate change is bringing more extreme weather to New York City, from frequent heat waves to wildfire smoke. Outdoor workers, such as construction and transportation workers who per...

As I told @velshimsnbc.bsky.social, we've got an amazing tradition of nonviolent resistance in this country.

While ICE and Donald Trump deport our neighbors with violence and cruelty, now is the time for everyone to stand up and fight.

After witnessing shocking cruelty inside 26 Federal Plaza, thousands of New Yorkers mobilized in Foley Square last Thursday to make clear:

We want ICE out of New York City, and we won’t stop showing up until they stop abducting our immigrant neighbors. #ICEoutofNY

Like many parts of North America, Africa faces a severe affordable housing shortage.

That's where Shelter Afrique Development Bank (ShafDB)—dedicated to promoting and financing housing, urban development and infrastructure across the continent—comes in.

NEW: @repdangoldman.bsky.social and I are referring the ICE officer who assaulted an individual yesterday for felony prosecution.

Shoving a bereft woman to the ground causing injuries is a criminal act and should be investigated as such. We demand accountability and an end to this lawless policy.
repdangoldman.bsky.social
Yesterday, an ICE officer violently threw a young mother to the ground at 26 Federal Plaza in front of her 2 children—sending her to the hospital.

This assault is a blatant violation of her rights.

@NYCComptroller.bsky.social and I have referred this officer to AG Bondi for criminal investigation.

Amazon is the only company to be on my office’s Employer Wall of Shame for two years in a row.

Out of all the companies operating in New York, Amazon has the highest number of allegations of Unfair Labor Practices committed in our city.

Proud to support Council Member @tiffanycaban.bsky.social's Delivery Protection Act! ✊

We must ensure that NYC can protect workers’ rights, promote safe streets, and hold Amazon and last-mile delivery companies accountable for how they treat their drivers and impact our communities.
nyccomptroller.bsky.social
We need real solutions to improve street safety, like the Idaho Stop, regulations on the delivery industry, and infrastructure upgrades.
nyccomptroller.bsky.social
We need to regulate e-bikes and e-scooters.

But Mayor Adams' 15 mph limit is overly-punitive to e-bike riders and deliveristas, many of whom have been affected by NYPD’s new policy of issuing criminal summonses for low-level traffic offenses this past summer.
transalt.org
Why should a person on a bike get a criminal summons for traveling 16 mph, while the driver of a 5,000 pound SUV doesn't even receive a ticket for speeding at 35 mph?

Mayor Adams continues his war on biking with this backward rule — despite >90% of public comments opposing it.
