swipe for ways to show your solidarity Why We're Striking
A codified 4-day work week.
We simply want to protect the way we've been working for over 3.5 years. The 4dww has proven benefits, such as increased productivity and improved employee satisfaction. It's part of what makes Kickstarter a special, innovative place to work.
Fair pay for our lowest-paid workers.
We're fighting for livable minimum salaries for roles that are undervalued by the market but crucial to keeping Kickstarter running. We believe none of our workers should struggle to make ends meet. Creators

Our union stands united with workers that do the real work of facilitating the great American marketplace of ideas. We stand for the freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, and the freedom of every worker who chooses to speak truth to power.

Nexstar and Sinclair should be ashamed of themselves for continuing to cave to Brendan Carr's unconstitutional extortion tactics.

ever since microsoft's layoffs in early july, the two zenimax unions have been fighting for impacted employees following the cancellation of the elder scrolls online studio's unannounced mmo. they've won laid-off workers more time (aka more pay), better severance, recall rights, and saved some jobs
"We were able to extend out [laid-off workers] impacted period, because their timers didn't even start until we signed the memorandum of understanding [about the layoffs],” Alyssa Gobelle, senior motion graphics artist and Zenimax Online Studios union bargaining committee member, told Aftermath. “Even their 60 days of continued employment and pending termination notices didn't happen until that ink was signed. So instead of starting July 2, that started mid-August, so that essentially bought them a lot more weeks of pay and healthcare security while we figured this out. That's sort of a soft win in a way, because obviously [it's] not in the contract, but it was an impact of us being able to bargain. We were able to buy them more time."

As a result, ZOS union members who lost their jobs in July technically remain employed until October. The ZOS union also squeezed an additional four weeks minimum severance out of Microsoft, bringing the total up to eight weeks across the board. On top of all that, the union also secured 18 months of recall rights for everyone on the canceled Zenimax MMO that lost their jobs, meaning that if there’s a relevant job opening at Zenimax Online Studios, there’s now a chance that workers who’ve been let go will get their old jobs back – as opposed to the company throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

So honored to show up for the Kickstarter community - they're out here fighting for our entire industry, setting norms that would give us all a chance at a better work environment. Join in the rally, starting at 5!

The workers at @kickstarterunited.org, one of the tech industry’s first unions, are in a tough contract fight, and they’re holding a virtual rally TOMORROW.

Show up if you can! If they win a strong contract with AI protections and a 32-hour work week, that only helps the rest of us 💖

We’ll give you a hint on today’s Wordle, brought to you every day by the @nytguildtech.bsky.social:

Greedy corporate CEOs hate these because they give workers the power to fight for their fair share of the profits THEY create.

_ _ _ _ _ strong! ✊

So far, we have lost 12 hours of PTO this month and we will lose 71 hours over the duration of our contract. No announcement was made, no message sent out, and when asked, management simply ignored us. So we brought the issue to their inboxes. Every minute.
To NYT Leadership: Look, I don't like getting these emails either... But it's minute 77 of summer Friday To NYT Leadership: [nytimes/work-life-balance] Removing summer Fridays (PR #8152) To NYT Leadership: 100 minutes I could have been with my family To NYT Leadership: 4:04 pm. Summer Fridays not found.
nytguildtech.bsky.social
Management has been quietly clawing back our time off, first by cancelling a few “global days off” they gave us during the pandemic and now by ending a years-long practice of giving us a 2 p.m. release on August Fridays.
To NYT Leadership: it's 2:13. Do you know where my Summer Friday is? To NYT Leadership: it's 2:26 and my eyes are tired. Wish I had a summer Friday. To NYT Leadership: It's Friday, Friday, no more getting down on Fridays To NYT Leadership: it's 3:02 pm. Got that summertime sadness

The fight for a better workplace can seem overwhelming and the gains can seem small, but we’re here to celebrate the day-to-day improvements our contracts provide. Anyone else have a win recently?
nytguildtech.bsky.social
We fought for clear and achievable PIP (performance improvement plan) language, and for the first time, we are seeing members successfully complete PIPs and return to good standing, instead of being trapped on a path to termination.
nytguildtech.bsky.social
We fought to ensure laid-off members have a fast track to be rehired - so far three of our laid-off members have been rehired to other roles in the company.
nytguildtech.bsky.social
We fought for mandatory salary floors, so when management posted job openings that didn’t meet those minimums, we were able to quickly correct them, ensuring new hires are paid fairly for their work.

We fought for on-call pay, and our first members are seeing extra compensation in their paychecks.

We’re celebrating solidarity through arts & crafts this week. Each year, our members come together for an internal hackathon called Maker Week and we also - in what’s becoming an annual tradition - create and share handmade zines for our members.

✊Know your rights, get involved, and get crafty 🎨

WE FIXED IT: Obviously our successful rally had an effect on @nydailynews.com management, who felt compelled to “write” an op-ed. Unfortunately it’s full of mischaracterizations and missing key facts. As journalists we couldn’t let that slide, so we got out our red pens…

Standing proudly with @NYDNUnion in their fight for fair wages, benefits and job security. We were fighting the same fight last fall, and will be there again one day - we know what we can accomplish in solidarity ✊💪
