You need to fix this @cnn.com.
boozybadger.lawyersandliquor.com
Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.
The picture from
The article with a picture of an armed men standing in front of a burning donut shop. You must click through to read the caption “
Two National guardsmen stand guard outside a burning donut shop in Los Angeles on April 30, 1992.
The National Guard was called in to aid police during the second day of rioting in the city.”

* After canceling the show I worked for, they offered me an entry-level, off-air position at half my current salary. I declined. They say that counts as a "voluntary resignation," so I wasn't technically fired.
offairashley.bsky.social
Also weird: having my access to staff communications severed before they posted the announcement (apparently titled "In Appreciation Of Ashley Sterner").
Wish I felt appreciated.

Still processing everything that's happened today.
I've never been fired* before. So it's all new.
Having my building access key canceled before I'd finished clearing out my desk was... weird.

When the universe casually drops a rainbow forcefield in your backyard like it’s no big deal.
Full rainbow stretching over my backyard pond view, with my cream golden retriever Tallulah trotting across the grass in front of the patio furniture.

Please, I beg you, no headlines that tell us what politicians "claim," with the facts in the article. Just say it's a lie.

In honor of National Poetry Day, the greatest parody rewrite of all time:
Screen cap of parodic version of William Blake's "The Tyger" that begins:
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
(Not sure if I spelled that right)
What immortal hand or eye
Could fashion such a stripy guy?
What the hammer that hath hewn it
Into such a chonky unit?
Did who made the lamb make thee,
Or an external franchisee?

Nobody listened (except me when I was charting my coverage map). But I loved it.
offairashley.bsky.social
I played songs (recorded on cassette from the real radio), did some talky talk, aired fake commercials.
I taped my show so I could broadcast it and wander around listening. I remember exactly how far the signal reached. Probably less than the equivalent of a city block.

I had my first radio show when I was 9 years old.
My parents had a baby monitor for my baby sister, and I randomly discovered that you could hear it on an FM radio (at 94.1) (I spent a lot of time fiddling with radios as a kid).

Thank you so much for listening! I was in tears myself! 💖

Teddy Grahams Breakfast Bears (1990-1992): Essentially a lower-sugar version of Teddy Grahams cookies (which had only debuted 2 years earlier) reformulated as a breakfast cereal. Nabisco promised that this cereal would stay crunchy in milk, and was bursting with "wholesome graham flavor." Here's a 🧵

I mean come the hell on…

The request for a gift for King Charles came from a State Department liaison who used the email address “giftgirl2025” and initially told the museum that they were looking for “like a sword or something,”

Another fun conversation from the penultimate episode of On The Record on WYPR: animal mummies at the Walters! This topic was so much fun to explore & share. The exhibit just opened, so I haven't seen it in person yet... but I'll be stopping by soon. Maybe I'll see you there!
'Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt' at the Walters Art Museum
Millions of animals were mummified in ancient Egypt — cats, dogs, birds and more. Many are featured in 'Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt,' a new exhibit at the Walters Art Museum.

On the radio today: two of my final interviews for On The Record. In this one, a look at an upcoming exhibit celebrating the legacy of Lumbee elders in Baltimore, through photographs and oral histories. I think it's also the first time I've interviewed another person named Ashley!

This is why we fund scientists to study things like oyster slobber even if you don’t think it sounds important

⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

I was today years old when I learned it wasn't "one winged dove".

Until today I thought the lyric was "just like a one-winged dove." Thought it was about being wounded by love or something. Need to be alone for a while.
