Neolithic Portal Tomb • Donegal

This is part of a series of portal tombs (or dolmens) at Malin More.

Taken together with other monuments nearby, like the court tombs at Cloghanmore and Farranmacbride, it is a sign of the importance of this landscape to Ireland's first farmers.

A Neolithic portal tomb, a megalithic tomb consisting of upright stones supporting a large capstone. the larger capstone at the front has collapsed and is supported by leaning back against the rest of the monument. a sheep is in the field and the sky above is bright but cloudy

Tobar Cholm Cille, or Colmcille’s Holy Well, is set high on the hills above the beautiful valley of Glencolmcille, Donegal.

It forms part of the Turas or pilgrimage route that traverses the valley in honour of the famous saint Colmcille (also known as Columba).
