If you are in London, please go and see this powerful performance running at Arcola Theatre until 28 June. The Reckoning is an impressive reminder of Russia's crimes committed in Ukraine and of the work of journalists who collect witnesses' testimonies

People who call it 'escalation' when Ukrainian drones hit legitimate military targets in Russia, never mention that Russian drones are deliberately hunting and killing Ukrainian civilians. Russian bombers apparently deserve protection more than the Ukrainian people

Hunted From Above
The 93-page report, “Hunted From Above: Russia’s Use of Drones to Attack Civilians in Kherson, Ukraine” and an accompanying web feature, document how Russian forces appear to be deliberately or reckle...

Putin said he will have to bomb Ukraine even more - and Trump didn't contradict him. That's all you need to know
olgatokariuk.bsky.social
Here's your reminder that the planes Putin complained to Trump about were used by Russia to bomb Ukrainian civilians and kill at least 20,000 people in Mariupol alone. Ukraine had every right to destroy them and protect its civilians

Ukraine’s ‘Trojan Horse’ Strike Scorches Putin

The new Pope Leo XIV chose Ukrainian president Zelenskyy for his first call to a foreign leader: very welcome news and hopefully a precursor to a more grounded in reality position of the Catholic church re Russia's war on Ukraine

Yesterday we published our investigation into torture & death of Ukrainian journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna.

Now, what I & several Guardian colleagues have been working on for past few months: inside one of Russia's worst torture prisons for Ukrainians

Inside Taganrog: beatings, electrocution and starvation at prison where Ukrainians were tortured
Russia is holding an estimated 16,000 civilians in arbitrary detention at 180 separate facilities. Taganrog was the most notorious.

It is chilling. Viktoria Roshchyna was the bravest of journalists, willing to risk torture & death to "remain faithful to our mission, to convey the truth to the world” about Russia's occupation. For those who wonder why Ukrainians fight, and even for those who know why, this is necessary reading. 👇

Read what was done to this young journalist in Russian captivity. And then think about what it means for Trump to look at Zelensky and say to Americans: "You see the hatred he's got for Putin. It's very tough for me to make a deal with that kind of hatred. He's got tremendous hatred.”

“the exact cause of death may never be known because when her body was returned during the exchange on 14 February, certain parts were missing, namely the brain, eyes and larynx.”

Also: it wasn't Putin who killed Viktoria Roshchyna. Someone in the Russian prison system did it, having a licence to kill from the top. The perpetrators of this terrible crime must be identified, found and brought to justice. We, people who knew and loved Viktoria, will make sure this happens

Viktoria's story is a stark reminder that for Ukrainians, Russian occupation is not peace. It's repression, torture, illegal arrests and extrajudicial killings. Russia's land grab must not be legitimized and justified

Ok, again. In 2014, when russia launched its invasion, Ukraine held official non-aligned status enshrined in law. Ukraine was a neutral country.

This war did not begin because of Ukraine’s NATO aspirations. It started and continues because russia seeks to restore its empire.
