Eastern newts (Caudata: Salamandridae: Notophthalmus viridescens) are relatively common in most of the eastern US and southeast Canada. Terrestrial juveniles like this one are brightly colored to warn potential predators of their toxic secretions. Zaleski State Forest near Athens Ohio, 03 May 2014.

Amanita a day, 15: An old Amanita Pantherina that had started to dry up, contract, and the usually straight gills had curled. I loved how it looked. Old can be beautiful! The spiderweb with dots of moisture made me happy too. Other shots below.⬇️

Red foxes help to control populations of their prey animals, such as rodents and rabbits. They also disperse seeds by eating fruit. In some areas where foxes had been killed off, rodents increased so much that farmers brought in other foxes. Please be kind. #StopEnglandsFoxHunt #AnimalLove
