i’m curious how newer Paradox titles like EUV apparently do not use AI gen tools as that is one of their work application fields (at least for designers this past year)

Here are the current top ten games on Steam that use AI-generated assets. Mostly stuff you expect but I was initially surprised to see Stellaris on there a while back, and now Anno 117, which I will sadly have to skip.

💿 John Glacier - Like A Ribbon
genre: hiphop, beats

i'm not big on hip hop, but every now and then something sticks. i loved her first LP "SHILOH". this one is denser (i think a compilation of several EPs, but they flow well!), kind of pondering vibe to it

💿 The Pretty Littles - FORCE
genre: punk, indie, rock

i'm quite new to this scene but i've been picking up more punk and emo bands past couple of years. and this is one that got my blood flowing this year

💿 Whatever The Weather II
genre: electronic ambient experimental glitch

this one not been getting enough spins from me yet, but i thoroughly enjoy it each time. another great release from Loraine James/Whatever The Weather

💿 Gregor - Songs for springs & nails, piano, electric bass, abandoned guitar and voices Vol. I
genre: ambient pop

there were several releases by gregor this year, but this one stuck with me. it's so sparse and laid back

no worries! it’s straight on the steam page as they are forced to disclose it there. same ”it fits our creative vision” excuse that embark uses.

great thread! so many things to check out. i saw Priest (2011) recently for the first time and it’s not a great film but it’s mixing a lot of interesting aesthetics. i completely overlooked it when it came out.

i’ve noticed apple uses a lot of ”whiter than white” to contrast elements in their new UI

one aspect i really like about your spritework for this game is that due to the monochrome-ness of each individual sprite, things come across as separate, tangible physical objects. they remind me of tabletop minis cast in various colors, like neclos fortress

ironically, the one game i spent the most time with here is caves of qud, and 99% of that playtime was last year 😅

demoing powertile at #retrospelsmässan today. quite a few people playing! the game is quite hard in this kind of environment though

Frogs +1/+1

You may play additional lands on each of your turns that collectively can produce exactly WURBG.

when you play a land or spell, draw a card if you have no cards in hand, otherwise discard a card.

how it started —
(the game started out as a kind of tile laying picross-like. at one point i decided to do away with the actual picross mechanics and keep the tile laying...)
February 21, 2025 at 11:53 AM
late game has 14 tile types, and big levels with various shapes and restrictions. it can get quite busy!
February 21, 2025 at 9:31 AM
i released a game! i've been working on this for the past few months.

it's a short, casual tile laying game where you can really get into the weeds, optimising for high scores.
price: free!
