i’m curious how newer Paradox titles like EUV apparently do not use AI gen tools as that is one of their work application fields (at least for designers this past year)

Here are the current top ten games on Steam that use AI-generated assets. Mostly stuff you expect but I was initially surprised to see Stellaris on there a while back, and now Anno 117, which I will sadly have to skip.

I went to meet the 'Rockstar 31', the developers who were suddenly fired from their work on GTA 6 for what the studio has described as gross misconduct.

i really want us, collectively, to understand that chat format LLMs cannot assess their own behavior. if you ask it what it did, it will construct a likely response to your query and that is all.

In other words, LLMs don't learn facts and store them for later. Where we learn that the sky is often blue, the LLM learns how to form a sentence about skies and their colors. Where we learn how to spell "apple", LLMs learn generally how to sound like a professional who is explaining something.

i keep seeing people tricked into the idea that LLMs like chat gpt ”knows” things or has values or any kind of agency, even ”anti-ai” folks.

Because LLMs don't actually know anything; they're just statistical models of the most likely text to follow the prompt they're given. It's the form of an answer but none of the substance.

folks don't know that AIs scraping websites accounts for like half of all internet bandwidth usage right now. Sites get scraped- ie, all the contents downloaded- over and over again, destroying/wasting their bandwidth, often maxing it out. It's like being continually DDOS'd
