“We need to be able to get the principals on the record” doesn’t apply to Levi’s, Smith College or Washington University.
What’s more troubling is that Weiss apparently didn’t even try to get the other side. If she had and they refused to talk, that’d be in the stories

Her work as a park ranger focused on sharing her personal experiences and the untold stories of Black Americans and women who served on the home front during World War II. After working at the agency for more than 15 years, she retired in 2022 at the age of 100.
