#BluePitHype Sadly, no art. I was unemployed for a good chunk of 2025, and only just now have some money for commissions because of freelance editing.

However, please enjoy a (very grainy) picture of a hawk I took in my backyard to represent AnimalsWIP for Raquel's Avian animal forms.

Yay! I really hope so considering the main goal is to grow as a freelance editor.

Couldn't be an editor without Merriam-Webster either 🥰 Thank you!

I believe in setting goals even if I don't complete all of them. It's something to work towards, and any progress is good.

So here are my 2026 goals that I hope to complete (or work on).

What are your goals in 2026?

Honestly, 2025 was a very big year for me and my career. I can't believe that in 1 year I went from an unemployed Gen Z grad to starting my own freelance editing business.

Now I get paid to edit your books! I'm so incredibly happy with the end of this year. Thank you for hiring me as your #editor

Otters Editing wishes you Happy Holidays!

I got a T-shirt and a notepad with an otter on them for Christmas 🦦

I can wear the shirt at #editing conferences and socials, and write my to-do list on the notepad for all my freelance editing tasks!

Yes! I set a goal of 25 books in 2025.

I am very close to finishing and expect to complete this goal!

I'm at 24 books and about halfway through reading the 25th book.

Currently reading: The Unbroken by C.L Clark.

This Thanksgiving, I'm giving thanks to all the people, communities, and organizations that have supported me on my freelance journey.

Authors, I would not be here without you. I love reading your stories, all of them.

Oo that's very pretty! I love that color. I did it once a few years ago.

I loved this picture my friend got of me in the snow with that hair color.

#Bookvember Day 10

I mostly read authors of color, but I'll pick one I haven't talked about yet.

Pet by Akwaeke Emezi.

I loved this book so much! The theme of how humans can be monsters, even those you love, was so good.

#Bookvember Day 9

Again I have sooo many but I'll go with The Sunbearer Trials duology by Aiden Thomas.

It's an amazing diverse YA fantasy with trans, nonbinary, and queer characters.

Anything by this author is great, including Cemetery Boys. I'm excited for Espiritu late next year!

Love that 😂 I wish I had that omg.

I found something at my great aunt's house that I wish would still work.

No ghostbusting 👻 just mythbusting!

There's a myth that editors will change your voice or take over the story.

A good editor won't change your voice/story, but enhance it instead, with suggestions or simple but effective changes to the sentences.

Being an editor means hope for a future I didn't think was possible 🥺

Being an editor means passing on that hope to my clients. Hope that their books, their dreams, will be written, polished, and published.

I'm here to help dreams come true!

#EditorsTeaClubCommunity Day 23

I celebrate all wins no matter how small 🎉 Sometimes this just looks like making progress on an editing project during a day when I'm really struggling.

Today I got some pages line edited even though the last part of my day was rough. Any progress is good!
