If anyone is curious, my wife is amazing. We found some plans for this helmet on Etsy and she made it out of cardboard from an IKEA box. Then, per the kid’s request, she then painted it silver and painted some blue flames on it. He absolutely loves it and has been playing with it all month.

Unfortunately, it was rainy tonight, so he went Trick or Treating sans helmet and in a poncho.

I changed into my Luigi costume to hand out candy, since my dev “costume” didn’t make sense out of context. I took the Mario Galaxy picture…then remembered that’s better docked and played Pokemon instead.

At some point, my wife said “Wouldn’t it be funny if I was his Ghost…but dressed as the wrong kind of ghost?” Then we asked “But what should David be?” The kid was like “What if you wear a dev shirt and be a Destiny dev?” The dev team shirts are pretty subtle, so I wore a Bungie logo shirt instead.

That's way outside my area. I just keep the databases happy and healthy. 😅

That said, the community team keeps tabs on Reddit, so it's likely they've already seen this and passed along the feedback.

But these past six years have been incredible. I’m so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had here and for how much I’ve learned in that time. I can’t wait to be playing Renegades and Marathon with you all!

Here’s to the next six years! (And next year will be the Bungie number!)

It still boggles my mind that I’m here doing this. If you went back in time seven years and told me that I’d be an Engineering Lead at Bungie, I’d have laughed and wouldn’t have believed you. The imposter syndrome is still real, even after all these years!

This means I’m now more involved with big picture planning and organization, in addition to the technical work I’ve been doing. While we all still support everything, I’m also now more focused on Shared Services and Marathon while another teammate focuses on Destiny and studio tools.

I did get a music minor, but I had to change instruments due to scheduling conflicts.

My main instrument was percussion (specifically marimba), but Percussion Ensemble was the only ensemble that qualified for that and they rehearsed during a class required for my major. So I had to switch to voice.

And yes, I know I’m slacking at only 243 power. Between being super busy in my personal life and at work, I’ve had very little time to play Destiny lately. I’ve also famously hated power grinding, going back to 2019/2020ish. I’ll run portal stuff to hang out with friends, but not just for power.
