At some point, my wife said “Wouldn’t it be funny if I was his Ghost…but dressed as the wrong kind of ghost?” Then we asked “But what should David be?” The kid was like “What if you wear a dev shirt and be a Destiny dev?” The dev team shirts are pretty subtle, so I wore a Bungie logo shirt instead.
My kid dressed as a Destiny Warlock. He has a royal blue coat with tails, blue and black gloves with what looks like a wrist computer, a black spikey Warlock Bond (arm band), and a silver helmet with blue flames painted on it. A visor has been edited on to obscure his face. He is holding a nerf gun as a hand cannon. Next to him is my wife wearing a white sheet type ghost costume with a jack o lantern style face on the chest. She is holding the Destiny Ghost plush over his shoulder. Literally all year, the kid has been saying “I want to be Destiny Warlock for Halloween!” We assumed he would change his mind at some point, but he was consistent!

Continuing with this theme, the kid brought this home yesterday. His class made Halloween cards at school and he drew this.

Six years ago today, I started at @bungie.net . I won’t summarize everything like I did last year, but a lot has changed in the past year. The biggest thing, for me at least, is that I have a new role. As of July, I’m now the Engineering Lead for the Data Reliability Engineering team!

When I pick the kid up from after school care, he usually shows me stuff he’s drawn while there. Lately it’s been a lot of K Pop Demon Hunters stuff.

On Wednesday, he showed me this. He was trying to draw my Starfire Protocol Warlock from memory! And he did a remarkably good job too!

Steam is dropping Windows 32-bit support in 2026.
As of January 1 2026, Steam will stop supporting systems running 32-bit versions of Windows. Windows 10 32-bit is the only 32-bit version that is currently supported by Steam and is only in use on 0.01% of systems reported through the Steam Hardware Survey. Windows 10 64-bit will still be supported and 32-bit games will still run. Existing Steam Client installations will continue to function for the near term on Windows 10 32-bit but will no longer receive updates of any kind including security updates. Steam Support will be unable to offer users technical support for issues related to the old operating systems, and Steam will be unable to guarantee continued functionality of Steam on the unsupported operating system versions. To ensure continued updates and compatibility, users should update to a 64-bit version of Windows. This change is required as core features in Steam rely on system drivers and other libraries that are not supported on 32-bit versions of Windows.

I’ve discovered that I’m horrible at social media. I often think of something I want to post, but then write it, rewrite it, and edit it for so long that I either just forget to post it and/or it’s no longer relevant.

So anyway, I had a blast at the Math Class 10th Anniversary event last weekend!
Me, in a navy suit, white shirt, and navy tie. My head is shaved and I have a freshly trimmed beard. I’m standing in front of some gold tassels. Math Class 10th Anniversary magnets. Today was the kid’s 7th birthday party and my wife continued her tradition of baking and decorating cupcakes for him. This year, he wanted a @seaofthieves.com party, since it’s his favorite game. He particularly likes Megalodons, so she made vanilla megalodon cupcakes and chocolate kraken cupcakes.
