Also made me consider that the contemporary version of the "Fat Elvis" stage might be the roided out stage.

I really liked Rohal's second movie THE CATECHISM CATACLYSM (2011). Steve Little plays basically his character from Eastbound & Down, except as a priest. Robert Longstreet plays a cool guy he's idolized since high school who he convinces to go on a canoe trip. Very funny and sweet, then weird.

THE CATECHISM CATACLYSM (2011) is weirdly-titled Todd Rohal comedy #2, and truly the only thing I knew about it was that the OCN partner label Factory 25 gave

I appreciate the fact check. I suppose the key point I was attempting to paraphrase was just that Crumb supposedly told Bagge he was worried about making comics after Me Too. (He also said he was losing his libido and stopped drawing big butts.)

So I guess I'm torn on whether or not to be the old man saying "SHOW SOME DAMN RESPECT!"
December 7, 2025 at 12:37 AM
And I'm not thinking of Crumb's work specifically but it often happens with filmmakers that I see young know-nothings dismissing entire bodies of work they haven't seen on the basis of somebody said something dumb in an interview or something. That pisses me off like it's an affront to my religion.

But also Crumb was always a kook and we all understood that as part of what made his art interesting, didn't we? I mean, the documentary was very popular, it's in the Criterion Collection, did you think he was a great normal guy in that?

But my feelings on this type of stuff are complicated. As I get older I start to realize how many things I grew up believing were canonical Important Shit that might actually be just boomer mythology I should be more skeptical about. (I hit on that in the TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 part of this piece:)

Well, it’s that time of year again. The end of April, that fabled time when the Oscars were 2 1/2 months ago unless there was a pandemic. Okay, obviously the

I thought Zoe did the stunts specifically and Uma did her own but you could be right.
December 6, 2025 at 10:50 PM
No, don't worry, it plays after the credits.
December 6, 2025 at 7:01 PM
Yeah, it's the famous unshot chapter "Yuki's Revenge" animated similar to PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS and Uma does the motion capture and everything but it takes place in the world of the video game I guess so there are guys wearing animal costumes and other nonsense.

That explains it. I just fell in love with those movies immediately so I never would've forgotten that part.

We get to experience some of that in this version but yeah, that last line in the theatrical cut hitting where it does with the music is so perfect.
