I loved ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. Yes it speaks to this exact political moment but also it's thrilling and weird and hilarious. We need all that.

I decided to watch last year's Valentine's Day slasher HEART EYES, which has many good aspects but doesn't entirely work for me.
Heart Eyes | VERN'S REVIEWS on the FILMS of CINEMA
Last year there was a well-reviewed Valentine’s Day slasher movie playing in theaters. Normally I’d be all over that shit, but I boycotted for political

I loved the absurdity of THE BEEKEEPER, but I'm so glad Statham is still doing serious ones like this. Very much my shit.

Last showing of this one, I think.

I'm concerned about this but don't really believe they would be insane enough to buy it and then refuse to make money with it. For now I'll just fret that I can no longer justify the ticket price as supporting science.
NEW: The Boeing IMAX Theater in Seattle, closed since Feb. 1, has been sold to a new owner: the Space Needle Corporation. Staff I spoke to are concerned new ownership aren't interested in showing first-run movies like THE ODYSSEY πŸ“½οΈ

He was also in "The Cape and Cowl Conspiracy," which I believe was the first episode of Batman I saw. (Then I obsessively watched it every day.)

It looks like my long-broken related posts plug-in is closer to working than usual, but I have no idea why it picked the DTV sequel to URBAN LEGEND.

Definitely the Seahawk that means the most to me!

I really liked Tina Romero's QUEENS OF THE DEAD. It's definitely more comedy than horror, but it's funny and sweet and has plenty of fresh spins on the subgenre her father birthed (which now that I think about it means they're siblings!?).
Queens of the Dead | VERN'S REVIEWS on the FILMS of CINEMA
QUEENS OF THE DEAD is a 2025 zombie comedy written and directed by Tina Romero. Yes, that Tina Romero. The one who was in LAND OF THE DEAD.

Out my window I see all these people headed to the Seahawks parade, and their excitement is infectious enough that part of me is like "Should I walk over and check it out?" before remembering that I give less than zero shits about football and would just be annoyed. Genuinely happy for them though!

I enjoyed Richard Linklater's BLUE MOON, a piece of historical fiction about Ethan Hawke in a bar one night going on and on about stuff.

BLUE MOON is one of Richard Linklater’s two 2025 joints, the one that’s in English and that he didn’t sell to Netflix and that was nominated for two Oscars

I'm sure that's a better reason to buy it - I'm just honored to be associated with a release of one of my all-timers.
February 10, 2026 at 3:17 PM
What do you say about a movie like that to the person who just bought it? I figured the extras would do the informing, I tried to write something poetic about what I see in it, I hope you appreciate it. If not you still have the best movie ever and a ridiculous amount of extras in a fancy box.

Okay, I don't know how this happened but somehow I wrote an essay for the Imprint release of HARD BOILED. I will be carrying it around showing it to strangers for now on.

I'm referring to a couple Super Bowl commercials that are entirely premised on de-aging that doesn't even look remotely passable.
February 9, 2026 at 4:24 PM
Didn't it seem like they mostly had de-aging figured out at one point? Did they switch to some lazy a.i. method now or something?
