Dunno know how it struck George Romero to approach his adaptation of Stephen King's novel as an American giallo, but it's absolutely the right angle to take. Can't imagine it would have struck many to do so, but that's why he was George Romero.
Been nice to see this find its audience over the years.

I wonder how long it will take the media to catch on to the fact that ICE’s recruiting spree has effectively deputized every white supremacist hate group out there.

thread about X’s new TOS. tldr is musk can now sue users for any reason in a TX court he basically owns, so he’ll almost certainly win. and this is a platform politicians and journalists largely refuse to leave.
Conservative influencer Ashley St Clair had a baby with Elon Musk in 2024. Things turned sour when she expressed mild support of trans rights. Elon cut child support and sued for custody; his followers made deepfake porn of her on X; she sued X; now X is suing HER!

But this isn’t just a soap opera:

The point here is to believe people when they tell you who they are. Gavin Newsom hangs out with Republicans because he likes hanging out with Republicans. This isn't 4-D chess. He wants to hang out with Ben Shapiro and Steve Bannon. When he says he agrees with them on things, it's because he does.

Minnesota residents are putting their lives on the line, some wine and cheese consultant class person from out of town uses it as an opportunity to fundraise for the politicians who are doing no more than issuing mealy mouthed statements, and then believes the pushback is from a disinfo campaign.
There may be a lot of known Minnesotans telling me - shockingly - I should not be supporting the DFL, but as someone who's run countering disinfo operations there have been dozens of inauthentic accounts in our discussion and that should make all of you "authentic" Minnesotans deeply uncomfortable.

It's a bad look to be calling us "inauthentic" while there are secret police goons grabbing our immigrant friends off the street.

It's a bad look to beg for money for the DFL to pay influencers to "counter disinfo" on this app while at the same time calling your critics Russian trolls.

When I lecture to students about how the apparently thriving economy of the 1920s was really a house of cards just waiting to be knocked down, one of the points I stress is how much a small number of the very rich were essentially propping up consumer spending in unsustainable ways
The top 10% now account for nearly half of all consumer spending.

Incredible example of the exact issue with Democrats right now: not listening to the actually people being impacted, and instead choosing to be snarky and patronising.

this would be just what Putin wants. so obviously we have to worry about this happening. because our President is a foreign asset.
The United States needs to realize that the world does not need them. They are not necessary to the survival or the prosperity of the free world. We will move on without you.

Few years back the Criterion Channel had a Screwball Comedy collection and I learned SO MUCH. One of the most important things was being introduced to Jean Arthur in this movie.
I feel like you can't watch this without falling for her at least a little bit. You'll want to watch her forever.

I just want people to know that there is no active insurrection, no regular protests, no rioting or whatever. The only time people are in the streets is when masked armed ICE thugs descend on one of our neighbors to disappear them as part of a federal government-led ethnic cleansing campaign.

The folks who correctly said, 25 years ago, that this was a grave mistake were correct & ignored or shouted down

WRATH OF KHAN, FIRST CONTACT, and BEYOND.
Those are my Top 3.
(My favorite Star Trek movie? GALAXY QUEST. Now you know everything.)
This is STAR TREK, to me. Why it appealed to me as a kid and what I love about it as an adult.
This is what I want. It gives me all of it...and the Beastie Boys.
I could not ask for more.

If laws don't matter then...laws don't matter. Not sure they're thinking this thru.
No federal judge has the power or authority to make DOJ comply with the mandatory provisions of the Epstein Act, says Pam Bondi. It's unenforceable and meaningless. Essentially, DOJ is a lawless if not criminal enterprise, not a law enforcement agency, at this point.
