I have a notion that many battleground district Republicans know they're cooked in '26, so they are eagerly demonstrating loyalty to The Leader in order to bag up cushy patronage jobs come the new congress. But I also do think some of them are True Believers, like my rep.

My Republican representative in a light red district who won by ~2 points last year has spent the past few weeks since Kirk got killed constantly threatening people for not mourning Charlie Kirk properly, including threats to illegally cut off federal funding from their communities. Cult behavior.
