Even happens in the tree loving state of Tasmania in the fancy suburbs south of Hobart. Unfortunately down here nobody seems to know who owns the trees so nothing happens.

Well short of records but the westerlies linked to negative SAM giving the heat a boost have given heavy rain and snow to western Tasmania. This was Friday at about 1200m with heavy snow falling. Snow drifts on the ridges were metres deep.

It’s been a few wet months down here and Northwest Bay is brown with tannin from runoff this week. I’m certainly not going to complain about the rain.
Unlike most of southern #Australia we can get good rain here in both positive and negative SAM.
