Today the Supreme Court heard a very, very technical case about whether a government contractors (in this case, private prison company GEO Group) should get essentially qualified immunity for contractors (I'm oversimplifying). The answer, it seems, will be no.

First the Trump admin said they’d only pay half of SNAP benefits for the month. Now they won’t pay ANY benefits until AFTER the shutdown, leaving millions of people - including hungry veterans and kids - wondering where their next meal is coming from.

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

As I read it, the 9th Circuit's administrative stay of the 1st TRO in Portland allows federalization of the Oregon National Guard troops for now *but still bars deployment of any NG troops in Portland.* That's because 2d TRO was not appealed & barred deployments of any federalized NG troops.
