Never know who's available until you really start asking around, but maybe Ketel Marte? Samuel Basallo (or Rutschman if they really love Basallo, tho he'd cost more than just Painter).

i think this is the most compelling thing in Mahmood Mamdani’s vision about postcolonial politics. he explicitly disavows any idea of demanding people humble themselves about historical traumas, but he wants to encourage everyone to see themselves as _survivors_ of history, and we all work w/in it.

"How dare the USG not adopt the position that America Bad" is, I think, kind of a hallmark of immature anarcho-nihilistic "leftism," and that's the real problem with the essay, I think. The politics are bad! Very simple.

Same thing with the Civil War! Like yeah, it's evil af that we had slavery. And 600,000+ Americans died fighting to get rid of it. Too many groups that only care about the first part.

Lived experience is so important we asked thousands of people about that experience! In a way that mathematically ensured a broad and diverse range of experiences! Asking about peoples' lived experience along dozens of different dimensions!

-Gen Z conservatives are Hitler Youth 2.0
-Basically all of them support JD Vance as the next president
-They hate Muslims, Latinos, and women (not surprising)
-All of them complain about affordability and healthcare lol

Yet there will be, actually, not figuratively, dancing in the streets of not just every city in America but worldwide. The celebration of his death will look like the pictures we have of the end of WWII.

This really is Bari Weiss' job, which is why I think it's funny when people feel compelled to say something like "she doesn't understand journalism."

These folks aren't there to understand journalism, they're there to encourage controversy infighting and division in the electorate
