Utter contempt and disrespect from Bruce McAllister.

Cutting off the kid's mic and limiting his freedom of expression is one thing, but saying he should be spanked is a fireable offense from a supposedly neutral moderator. Bruce needs to be removed immediately.

At tonight’s “consultation”…

When a high school kid tried to raise concerns about the teachers strike, Bruce McAllister cut the kids mic and then suggested his parents should have beaten him more.

Listen to the clip yourself…

It’s…

Telling.

I have to say in all my years as a journalist, I've never heard a government employee say that a youth should be assaulted for speaking their mind.

Thank you, Alberta students, for using your voice to stand up for public education.

We know that you are worth more than the lowest education funding rate in the country.

Your futures are worth so much more.

This is an unbelievable loss to Alberta. Dr. Markland was a powerful voice of compassion and integrity and he was loved and respected by so many.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends. 💔

A local landowner sparred with Marciano over not receiving the company’s lease payments on her land. Marciano said she needs to apply for reimbursement from the government.

“It’s still our tax dollars,” she said.

“That’s not good enough.”

Government’s job is to fund public education properly so all kids can succeed.

It’s not to ban books or question your child’s gender.

They want us to be distracted by the latter so they can get away with failing at the former.

Don’t let the UCP get away with any of it.

Finance Minister Nate Horner thinks 12% increase - over 4 years for teachers is too much.

But he voted in favour of a ln immediate 14% living allowance increase for MLAs.

Just sayin’…

Reporter - “You’re saying that teachers suddenly asked for better wages, but they’ve been asking for better wages for months?”

Horner - “Well yeah, but we have no appetite to pay more”

Wow. Danielle Smith wants this sexually explicit material to be mandatory reading for children?? How disgusting! Where are her morals? Her values? 🫠
markusoff.bsky.social
Danielle Smith on Atlas Shrugged, on Edmonton schools' list of books banned by provincial order: "Maybe we should make it mandatory reading in high school."
Provincial order: "The school authority must not select for inclusion in a school library... materials containing explicit sexual
content."

It’s time for Danielle Smith and the UCP to take personal responsibility for the challenging conditions in Alberta classrooms.

The Alberta Legislature belongs to the people of Alberta. It is supposed to be a welcoming and inclusive place for all.

The UCP is the only government in the country to welcome a performer who preaches hate towards its people onto public land and waste public resources while doing it.

Once again, Mickey Amery proves he can't be trusted to follow Alberta laws, even the ones he passes.

Albertans deserve better.

Better is possible.

Mickey Amery hid ties to the UCP’s CorruptCare scandal. Now he’s interfering in the courts to push a referendum to take Alberta out of Canada.

Amery cannot be trusted as Alberta’s Minister of Justice.

He must be fired. Join the call: FireAmery.ca

If the Minister of Justice is counseling the Chief Electoral Officer to disregard the law, it makes you wonder what kind of advice he's offering the premier and the rest of government.

Predictably, the move is sowing further distrust in the democratic system, including elections and courts.
pancholirakhi.bsky.social
The Premier and Justice Minister are once again trying to politically interfere and pressure an independent decision-maker. Why? To support the separatist base of their party and protect their own party.

They’re not focused on Albertans. They’re focused on themselves.

Again.

The killing of children and civilians - whether through bombs, starvation or terrorism - should devastate us all.

The Alberta New Democrats support the Canadian government’s call on the Israeli government to allow for the sustained and large scale delivery of humanitarian aid.
pancholirakhi.bsky.social
Danielle Smith and the UCP must publicly condemn this. They need to send a message to all Albertans that threatening and intimidating reporters is completely unacceptable in a democracy.

Women journalists are also far too often the targets of this kind of harassment and it must stop.
kathleenganley.bsky.social
This is targeted harassment designed to intimidate a reporter with the intention to deprive the public of access to the truth. It is an attack on not just the free press, but democracy. #AbLeg

The Jasper Wildfire review is damningly clear about one thing: the UCP government exploited a life-and-death moment to play political games.

And in their response to this report, rather than accepting responsibility and promising to do better, they lash out, insult others, and refuse any blame.
