The first line of "Fahrenheit 451" is: "It was a pleasure to burn." This is the essence of Donald Trump's appeal. Truly making America great would involve hard work. Keeping America angry? That's easy.

"In the pewter mornings, the cat,
a black fur sausage with yellow
Houdini eyes, jumps up on the bed and tries
to get onto my head. It's his
way of telling whether or not I'm dead.
If I'm not, he wants to be scratched; if I am
he'll think of something."

Insta's idiotic insistence on cramming everything into a square was one of the many reasons I left. Apart from that, I was always amazed by how many often Insta would drastically alter the contrast of black and white images. Truly an awful platform.

Hope would be nice. We could definitely use some hope if you can find some out there.

Funny, didn't Trump disavow Project 2025 during his campaign? Nah, my memory must be faulty. It's not like he would lie, right?

"[P]oets and playwrights as a group show unusually severe symptoms of depression... by creating worlds of words... they can act with abandon, erasing from the mind the existence of a troubling reality."

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, "Flow"

A photo showing a passage from the book "Flow," (Harper Perennial, 2008) by Mihalyi Csikszentmihalyi: "Many have commented about the fact that poets and playwrights as a group show unusually severe symptoms of depression and other affective disorders. Perhaps one reason they become full-time writers is that their consciousness is beset by entropy to an usual degree; writing becomes a therapy for shaping some order among the confusion of feelings. It is possible that the only way writers can experience flow is by creating worlds of words in which they can act with abandon, erasing from the mind the existence of a troubling reality." The words "Without Joy" and "Doubt" can be seen on the cover of other books in the background of the photo.

"What had she said about passion and the elements?... There she was, a cloud black-bosomed and charged with thunder, and he, like some absurd little Benjamin Franklin, had sent up a kite into the heart of the menace. Now he was complaining that his toy had drawn the lightning."

The excerpt reads: "When she was born, they bound her little feet with leather bands; my beloved never walks the road of shade and flowers. When she was born, they bound her little heart with leather bands; my beloved never listens to my song."

It is not until I am back home that I notice that the pretty young woman who helped me at the store has written her name on the receipt. Her name, in another language, means "Happiness," and she has added a smiley face.

This small thing makes me happy.

Two images side by side. The image on the left is bright and rotated, a body stretched out on the bed legs bent, anonymous face not visible just the landscape of bent knee, long thigh, sweep of hip and dip of waste, anonymous and dressed in pale beige underwear, displayed on a bed, silk and cotton and rumpled sheets. The image is flipped upside down - and seems to melt almost seamlessly into the image on the right. Darker - the same body but right side up, a similar pose but their knee pulled higher their hand reaching back... The composition of each image. The rotation of one photo creates a strange, almost confusing, but somehow perfectly aligned tangent.

The first few times it happened, the appeal was successful almost immediately. The last few have gotten no response.

I love Bluesky, but this is frustrating. It's not just happening to me: Other photographers have commented on the same thing. Photos are being inexplicably marked as "explicit sexual images." Did they hire John Ashcroft to review posts? WTF?

#bluesky #frustrating #photography #nudity #censorship
Sceen capture of an appeal of a content label automatically applied by Bluesky: "Are these labels being added automatically? They are wrong. This is at least the 4th or 5th time one of my photos has been labeled as an "explicit sexual image." If you do not differentiate between artistic nudity and sexual images, why do you even have the categories?"
