Although this ensemble was a commercial failure, Claire McCardell had a vision of the capsule wardrobe that would be revived decades later by designers like Donna Karan and her 7 Easy Pieces. This is mid #1930s, a travel ensemble to work anywhere you might land @metmuseum.org #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Today's #ootd is this 1920 Paul Poiret afternoon dress. It is both distinctly 1920s, with the geometric motifs and folded neckline and sleeves, but it also looks very modern, like it could be worn today. Absolutely stunning. I love the side buttons.
