it's not great when the consultation landing page continues the labour habit of just making things up where immigration rules are concerned. SETTLEMENT IS NOT GRANTED AUTOMATICALLY. absolute joke of a government

found the last ever pic of the last ever character i made in fallout 4 before turning it off forever. it just seemed like a nice way to exit stage left, y'know?

it wouldn't be the same thing, is the point people have tried to make here. from a similar thread a while back, and this is just one tiny example of how replacing it would be extremely good for all who use it. only people who don't experience UKVI would say "there is no benefit to abolishment":

the good thing about having a fine art degree is being able to produce monstrosities like this and then say "i can do it though because i have a fine art degree"

it's *significantly cheaper* to buy a shoulder clip, a chest clip, neck mount, or literally any tool used for hands free recording. no the slight increase in convenience to film themselves laying some bricks does not trump the inevitable growth in harassing women and monetising it for dorks imo

i was incredibly poor, to the extent i had to go to my sixth form's leavers meal at a restaurant on the condition i could sit there but not eat (and i did sit there and not eat), because i couldn't afford the £15 fee. a classmate gifting me this £2.50 copy of weaveworld in 1995 was life changing

well if we're trading pets, here is my rescue dog who had an absolutely terrible time of things before we got him, and now he spends every day having a nice nap (he has not done any conferences yet though)

no, you're wrong. using one of these books is infinitely preferable to someone using nothing but a reused password 9,000 times. they're especially good for older people who don't go out much. if your book is at risk in your home, you have bigger problems than "they're going to steal my amazon login"

like i'm sorry, i'm not being told by US customs and border that an ESTA is not a visa, but if you think about it, a lack of having to apply for a visa is actually a visa when you fly to the EU
January 19, 2026 at 6:46 PM
you are not granted a visa at a border when travelling on a visa waiver. there are significant differences between what you can do, what you can expect, and the consequences of problems/restrictions on future travel if an issue arises. arbitrarily changing length of stay on entry = not a visa!
