Betty’s family announced her passing and has requested privacy during this time. In lieu of flowers, they’ve asked that those wishing to honor her legacy consider donations to Betty Reid Soskin Middle School and to a forthcoming film documenting her remarkable life.

The real paradise is in and around us constantly. Earth is magnificent and when we don't notice that because we're focused on some imaginary goal, we fail to appreciate our actual lives. The thing we may only get once.

The idea that our lives don't matter in comparison to a supposed afterlife breeds a disrespect for the planet we are on. It puts caring for nature lower in the priority list. Why would one need to care about this place surviving if they're going to end up in paradise?

I'm so endlessly fascinated by fungi. I think there's a solution involving fungi to just about every problem we have.
