Yesterday I defended my PhD thesis - dealing with far-right normalisation and social media politics - at Karlstad University. I want to thank my opponent, Prof. Jason Glynos, for the wonderful discussion, as well as the committee, supervisors, colleagues, friends and family for their huge support.

Meta’s policy changes have allowed neo-Nazi content to flourish on Instagram, with accounts openly spreading hate, antisemitic rhetoric, and Nazi symbols while profiting from it. This unchecked extremism is spreading faster than ever.

My article "The role of right-wing enjoyment in the normalisation of the far-right" has been published in @risjnl.bsky.social Review of International Studies. I investigate how right-wing liberals, moderates, and conservatives - once disavowing the far-right - enjoy political victories alongside it.

Although anti-populism has a place for ‘the people’, it ultimately aims at the restoration of responsible elite rule: government for the people, rather than of or by them
