Yorkshireman. Does some stuff for work. Drinks some beer occasionally. Likes to spell yoghurt correctly. A paid up member of the Tory party.
I’m on an LNER train, heading to London. Does anyone want to guess how visible this “surge” of policing is? Not that I’d necessarily want it, but why bother saying it?

I thought that going cashless was a good idea anyway but now the Telegraphy is against it I’m even more sure.

Why not apply this to everyone and deport thick people and benefits scroungers?

Guys, this was a Brexit benefit. Is that what you want?

How does this help verify my account? You want my DOB and, it turns out, my phone number?

Pensioners? people who already paid stamp duty? people who improve their homes, maybe by adding solar panels? homes that increased in value through no fault of their owners? people living in small flats in London?

I’m not entirely against the idea, but there’s a lot to go wrong.

So, on the one hand, this is nice; however, it’s also a little creepy.

In addition, what’s the benefit? I always used to read David Aaronovitch but he was sacked and I deliberately never read Melanie Philips but she is still there.

This would be the perfect time to start pointing out the nationality and migration status of criminals.

Can you imagine how this guy would be treated, as an immigrant using a fake name, if his skin was brown?

It’s warm.

What’s great about this is that good hospitals will get more funding and thus get better. Bad hospitals will get less funding and…

Starting to think these people don’t really know what they’re doing.

Except for the billionaires who, I guess, saw where this was going.

This may be mostly true, but gotten isn’t an Americanism.
April 5, 2025 at 8:04 AM
I guess that’s the point. Cheaper dollar makes imports more expensive, US exports cheaper for others.

Riddle me this…

If immigrants can only do high paying jobs, who’s doing the low paid jobs?
March 11, 2025 at 7:19 AM
What the heck is this?
March 10, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Oh cool. Presumably uses the internationally agreed shared definition of “harmful content”.

Now I don’t need to worry about actual parenting!

Well done everyone 🙄

Have to say, sitting in the sun at 8.40am is quite pleasant.
January 23, 2025 at 4:41 PM
“why not?”. Possibly because that’s a lot of money?

Lovely, nearly cloudless morning for a walk to the station. If the moon wasn’t so bright it would have made for some great pictures of stars but this was the best I could get

How is Bluesky making money? What’s the business model here?
