The best thing about Avatar is how unashamedly weird it is. Its lore and the bio-psychodelic fixation is ripped from some back-of-the-library 1970s sci-fi book, but its the biggest film franchise in the world.

I think another factor is that I don't think the use is entirely driven by the CEO and Execs, which is a nice, clean narrative - but that some developers are willingly using it of their own accord, which is where conversations will get muddier.

Yeah. As I understand, it's prevalent already for games of a certain scale, and I think if people are hoping their favorite developer doesn't, they may find the horse has already bolted.

But I think there is still good in keeping the stove hot to create consideration, and curb the worst impulses.

Hell, there's been credible allegations of its use uncovered at AAA developers in the last couple of weeks and the companies have just not commented. The tech introduces enough uncertainty that it becomes hard to talk about instences as absolute fact which is in a developer's favor - fog of war etc.
