UK wealth inequality is pretty low.

Not everything is fixed by assets getting handed out - UK wealth is mostly housing, Thatcher handing out state assets to individuals was your textbook Clientilist Socialist move (as seen more recently in Venezuela).

Not sure about. In immigration policy, the reverse appears to be true. But no one wants to talk about that, because it doesn't fit anyone's narrative

Some interesting choice of language in the reporting here, downplaying the proposed Common Food Safety Area (which will also include non-EEA mmber Switzerland) as little more than an EU-UK SPS Agreement. Is there any reason for this @pmdfoster.bsky.social ?

This rings true (and it's also not a left-right divide). Moreover, it begets the question of whether hate and anger are stronger drivers of political ambition than love and joy, so tolerant happy people are less likely to participate in politics than those who have axes to grind...

While I am pro-trade, I think this is a sensible development as it is a start at leveling the playing field for local manufacturers and highstreet businesses who mostly have a far higher tax burden than their global competitors, except the UK with which the EU has a level playing field treaty...
