NYT (Jan. 1963): MOSCOW REPORTS BOOMING ECONOMY
"Every three months, statistics on results of the state plan are published. The statistics are unfailingly optimistic. Each time they raise questions ... about the relationship of statistics to reality."

another classic abuser tactic: find a threat you can wield over and over, punish with no semblance of predictability, claim victory/superiority whenever is convenient
Congrats everyone, we now have 35% tariffs on Canada for no apparent reason

So am I reading this court decision correctly? We now have 50 micronations with their own laws interpreting the U.S. Constitution wholly separate from one another? But there's one guy with private law enforcement who is immune from all punishment who can do whatever he wants in those 50 states?

fox is setting the stage for mass approval of the killing of protestors

even the senator from louisiana had to rein him in. christ
Fox anchor John Roberts suggests law enforcement is showing a lot of restraint by not shooting protesters

Roberts: "There are plenty of democratic countries ... where doing something like that would get you shot, so there would seem to be a fair degree of restraint being practiced"

Strangely, Roberts doesn’t name the “democracies” that, he says, shoot protesters.

I no longer have the right to free speech and I have to show my papers to heavily armed ICE officers every time I cross the street. But I can still own an AR-15 and that is what freedom really means.

Legality aside, how pathetic for the American head of state to fly around in the plane he got as a valentine from the Emir of Qatar. A kept little man.

Just so we’re clear, everybody calling Kilmar Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” or a “gang member” are lying, and they know they’re lying, and they repeat it for purposes of confusing people who don’t follow this stuff closely into accepting what was done to him.

Props to George Soros. Hundreds of thousands of paid protestors yesterday, and yet not a single copy of a check or any evidence of electronic transfers to them.

It’s almost as if USAID was a pillar of American soft power and influence in the world

It’s almost as if it was entirely predictable that America’s adversaries would work to fill the void left by USAID’s destruction

As of Friday, there have been 46 cases in which federal judges have blocked Trump policies.

The rulings in those cases have come from 39 different judges appointed by 5 different presidents (of both parties) to 11 different district courts across 7 different circuits.

Maybe it's not the judges?

These notes from universities aren't just useless and cowardly, they're actively dangerous at this point! Your university isn't a "community" if it's allowing people to be abducted off the street because of an op-ed.

Real answer is to reallocate all university resources until the student is freed.

It's been several hours since I first watched this clip of billionaire Howard Lutnick ruminating about Social Security, and I still can't believe it.

It's a rub-your-eyes-in-disbelief moment.
Trump’s Commerce Secretary just said seniors shouldn’t “call and complain” if they stop getting their Social Security checks: “A fraudster always makes the loudest noise screaming and complaining.”

The United States government under Trump by all accounts is shipping these people into indefinite involuntary servitude in El Salvador without even the pretense of any judicial process, much less duly convicting them of a crime. It’s an enslaving operation.
